Had a mom come into work tonight while I was closing out the cosmetics counter at work. She looked a little lost, so I asked if she needed help, and she pointed to all of our perfume gift packages (holiday special whatnot) and asked if I could help her pick some out for her two kids.

I say sure, ask the age range, and go from there, asking if there’s anything she wants in particular (shopping for two tweens, one 11 and the other 12).

She hesitates and goes “just…something pretty. and feminine”

And I’m like “lol wanna make them feel like princesses, I see!”

And she just lowers her voice, like she’s scared I’m going to say something rude, and goes, “My 11 year old just started transitioning, and I want her to feel pretty.”

Just about made up for the rest of my shitty night. Kudos to you, mom. You’re doing good.

For everyone yelling “WHY IS AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD TRANSITIONING!” chill.  Her 11 year old daughter is not taking hormones or getting surgery.  She is, at most, taking puberty blockers so that she doesn’t have to go through the effects of a testosterone-based puberty.  Then, if she does decided to take estrogen later, it works on effectively a blank slate.  No masculinizing to undo.

And, BASIC FUCKING SENSE HERE, her daughter is socially transitioning.  Transitioning isn’t just hormones and surgical measures.  If the kid wants it, it’s pronouns and name and gendered items.  It’s being treated as the little girl she is, not a little boy.

So yeah, go her for embracing her kid and getting her things to make her feel welcomed, loved, accepted, and pretty.

Please, please consider donating guys or signal boost this if you possibly can. I’ve thankfully managed to pay most of my bills for this month (gas/electricity/tax etc..) but, despite having over an overwhelming 14K notes on this post, I’m still struggling to make ends meet and I still desperately need help to get some groceries in for December/January or I won’t be able to eat this Christmas or in the New Year and I don’t receive my benefit until late January (25th).
