A simple repurposing of an old broken suitcase. The bottom corner was cracked right through, and the zipper was breaking apart.

Simple solution, convert it into a cart by cutting the top out of it, covering the edges with EVA foam, and using some of the scrap plastic to reinforce the break. Aesthetics is not a consideration. The main goal is to produce something useful, and to prevent the global trash problem getting a little bit worse...

The result is a usefully cart for anything long, like my rolls of EVA foam.

Just finished building this electrical cupboard to cover the switch box on our wall near the front door, designed to match the entry table I built last year.

I didn't have a design, or much in the way of plans, just looked at some photos of different kinds of Shaker furniture and other products, took a few measurements from the wall, and winged the rest.

I am very happy with the result. Just needs a couple of coats of lacquernand it can go ion the wall.

A bit more of our house renovated, next up will be the walls up the stairs.

In the meantime though I've started on the small, Shaker inspired wall cabinet that will cover the electrical box, under which there is already a matching entry table.

A bit more of our house renovated, this time the bit of wall between the dining area (done a year ago) and the entrance (done a month ago), de-wallpapered, repaired, and painted.

One full wall directly opposite and the walls around the stairs yet to be done to finish off the bottom floor of our house.

Doing this renovation piece by piece is allowing us to get it all done so much quicker than waiting for an opportunity to do the whole place at one time. We don't have to cover everything, we can still live fairly nornally, and expense is kept to a minimum.

So, what do you get when you bring together an obsolete air purifier, and obsolete iPad, a fairly decent small Yamaha mixer, a 3-pieve PC speaker Se, and an old music stand?

Answer: a home music centre, of course!

The air purifier was stripped out, and some of the internal structure cut out to make way for the speakers and a power strip, a music stand was screwed on top and the mixer zip tied in place, with a mobile device stand screwed behind it to support the iPad, with additional zip ties. The oval top of an old coffee table / magazine rack was cut in half and doubled over for the base. Overall, we have a very nice music centre, or sound post, or VoxoGrille!

The air purifier was original a soft cream colour, I painted it gloss black and the front grill chrome to vaguely capture the basic look of old cars from the 1920s.

I made this diorama set a year ago and completely forgot to share it online!

It shows 6 different Batmobiles in settings that hopefully show off the cars appropriately. The whole thing is made in the styrene spare-tyre-placeholder out of a Toyota Yaris. An odd item for sure, but a great platform for this diorama set.

It is now for sale.

First step in our livingroom renovation. On Wednesday evening I took down the curtains and everything else. On Thursday (public holiday), my wife and I stripped off all the old crappy wallpaper (third photo), cleaned the concrete render, applied a basecoat. I went to the gym to give the paint enough time to dry and then gave the first topcoat after getting back. This morning I painted the final topcoat, and this evening put everything back in its place.

It might sound a bit crazy renovating just one wall at a time, and yes, it does make the rest of the wallpapered walls look worse than before lol, but if we wait for enough time to do it all in one hit we might be waiting longer than if we just seize every random public holiday to get a bit done.

We are very happy with the result, and keen to do the next bit when the next opportunity arises.

Before unloading though I took it to the nearby lake and did a photoshoot, later turning those photos into desktop wallpapers. I'm really happy with these photos. Hope you enjoy them too!
