"Free is subjective. Before he was working for me, I was working for him. As much as I'd like to say otherwise, I didn't build him overnight."

"And I’m sure the free labor doesn’t hurt much, either."
"Free is subjective. Before he was working for me, I was working for him. As much as I'd like to say otherwise, I didn't build him overnight."
"Well that’s—mildly reassuring."
"If it isn’t a deranged killing machine, then what does it do?"
"It's an assistant, for the most part. I can't be in two places at once, and good help is so hard to find these days."
"You do realize that sounds like something a murderer would say, right?"
"If it makes you feel better, I don't believe I've murdered anyone recently. At least to my recollection.
That robot, on the other hand, only has a marginal capacity for violence. Negligible, even."
"Hand you the- what?"
"Nevermind-- I've got it. Miss Coulter, isn't it?"
davidxanatos haha I volunteer! I want the same exact things…because she’s a monster and not many can take that for long XD
[Maybe? Like-- I won't deny the chemistry's there, and they have the potential to be a hell of a ship, but these things have gotta develop organically, you know?]
i want to write relationships that are complicated.
i want to write the on-again-off-again relationships. i want the screaming matches and the cancelled dates and the hurt feelings and the second guesses and second chances.
i want to write people who completely shake up each other’s daily routine and flip their entire world on its axis. i want them to drive each other crazy and question why they bother sticking around and then remember the way their partner laughs or see them in a moment of vulnerability that tells them 'this is is why i stay. this is why i love you.'
i want to write relationships with struggles. with class differences and financial divide. two people who are so completely different they somehow complete each other. i want the jealousy and the feelings of inadequacy that goes with it.
i want to write people who aren’t afraid to be honest with their partner. who aren’t afraid to say 'yeah you're being an asshole' followed by 'but i still love you, you idiot.'
i want the first time they see their partner cry and the morning after their first intimate night when everything feels so right.
i want people who get so used to one another that they stop going the extra mile. i want the ‘you don’t make the effort because you already have me’ argument.
i want relationships that challenge each other to be better people and make each other question their beliefs and moral compass.
but most of all, i want to write relationships that are real. that make you feel something. i want to go on the emotional rollercoaster right along with them.
that’s what i want.

"Enjoying the party?"
"I do mean more in general; just hearing or listening to what you have to say is always quite fascinating, no matter who’s attentive to it. And to be honest, if that was your favorite way to spend a weekend, I’d be out of a job."
"The conference? Oh, uh about — international developmental technology for educational advancements. It’s in Monaco."
"Education, huh? Well-- it's not exactly in line with the Xanatos creed, but I suppose we could use the good publicity. People love seeing me as the big bad wolf, and this AI project has just added fuel to the fire.
"I'll make attending the conference a priority. You can count on my being there-- assuming an emergency doesn't crop up."
"Ahh. Well this is awkward then." "I just moved into this building."
"Not awkward at all. I don't mind getting to know my tenants. Of course, the manager usually takes care of that part."
”As local as one can get in a city like this. Are you looking for something in particular then, Mr. Xanatos? What kind of business are you looking to complete here?”
"I have a hand in just about everything nowadays, but in particular I'm looking to expand my energy holdings. I've heard there are abundant natural resources in this area."

"A man's network can make or break him. As it happens, I like to keep myself informed, and talent like yours is enough to catch my eye."
“Thank you, sir. It’s my natural colour, so I’d hope I could wear it without too much trouble. My name is Elsa, might I ask yours?”
"Xanatos. David Xanatos. I'm here on business-- just scoping things out. Are you a local?"
David Xanatos, Magnificent Bastard
She looked to him properly at the words, ever so slightly surprised by the sudden assumption, but not overly so. It wasn’t hard to guess, after all. The previous words and questions scrawled across it’s surface were a big enough hint for whoever happened to pay attention, and he was certainly the sort to do so.
She paused for another moment before plucking up the notebook and flipping to a new page to answer him post haste. That was what she was here for, after all. See who she could come in contact with, and Boxer’s reservation besides, he was the best option as of yet, the bright glimmer of intelligence in his gaze speaking for itself.
-Three months now. May I ask your name, sir?
Then she turned the notebook to show him, her loopy and elegant handwriting matching her looks. The world was her stage, and she certainly made herself fit to match in such a public space.
.: Babe, make sure to be careful. I don’t like this:.
He watched her retrieve the notepad and scrawl across a new page. He'd once taken a particular interest in graphology-- the analysis of handwriting as a means of deducing a person's character. There was quite a lot that one could learn about someone through the way that they wrote, and her loopy scrawl spoke volumes. The quality of her lines were almost as expressive as the tone of a human voice.
"David Xanatos, of Xanatos Enterprises," he introduced, smoothly producing a card from the inside pocket of his jacket and handing it to her. He wasn't usually much of one for business cards, but when he went out without the company of his usual entourage, he sometimes found himself in the company of skeptics.
"You seem to have adjusted well-- your penmanship is excellent. Do you have a name, too, or would you prefer that I make one up for you?"
