CRASH. That’s all Sapphire saw in her vision. What it meant, she didn’t know, until she saw a grey gem walking backwards in Sapphire’s direction.

When the grey gem began to come closer, Sapphir- e floated over and brushed her hand against their s- houlder, them stopping in their tracks.

          ❝ Easy there, you wouldn’t want to hurt anyb-              ody, now would you? ❞

Sapphire smiled weakly, trying to seem as friendly a- s possible to the other.

“W-Woah!”  Black Star recoiled in the opposite direction when she felt Sapphire’s hand on her shoulder.  “Oh, n-no I wouldn’t!  Sorry about that..” Black Star laughed sheepishly.

“But me?  No no no!  I don’t wanna hurt anybody!  T-That’s not me.. I mean.”

Sapphire chuckled at the grey gem, now smiling more sincerely than before. She gave a small h- ug to the other, then let go, not wanting to be t- oo clingy.

“They’re uh.” White Quartz rubbed her neck. “They’re. Littles. Just creatures. I train them and stuff.”

She didn’t want to admit they were corrupted gems. Usually other gems didn’t respond well to her “training” corrupted gems and letting them hang around her like pets.

Sapphire tilted her head to one side, staring down at the little creatures. They seemed odd, but she  wasn’t about to say anything. The blue gem sat d- own in the sand and sighed tiredly. She had no e- nergy to speak, so she didn’t.

River mewled slightly, hopping down and batting at Sapphire’s dress fabric.

White Quartz sat down in the sand next to her, hoping to remain at about the same height. “Were you coming to look at the stars too?” she asked, apparently unaware of how tired the other was. “I like to come by here and look at the water and the stars.”

Sapphire slowly turned her head to face White Quartz, blinking with her tired eye. She nodded and spoke,

           ❝ Yeah, I love the way the stars shine at night,                and the way the waves crash into the shore.                But I mostly came for peace; serenity in the                storm of my household. ❞
