aesthetics:
a perfectly performed dive ending in polite applause. pink sunglass frames and a hazy smirk. allowing the worst nightmare to become reality. staring into the abyss from twenty meters above the ground. hospital visits ending in the worst news. all of that work... for nothing. screaming your lungs out at the bottom of a pool. trying again to take the leap.
intro:
andie was born to a set of parents that were intense in everything they did. her mother was a banker, who worked late nights and excelled at every possible moment. her father ran marathons professionally. he never won a medal, and retired just a year before andie was born.
suddenly, her father’s goals were pushed onto her. they started when she was young, and andie spent her formative years in and out of random sports, until she found one that she had natural talent at: diving.
she wasn’t afraid of the heights, and she was small enough still to be taught everything she needed to know. when they packed up and moved to a whole new country, one of the priorities was that there was a diving pool nearby, so she could train.
she never woked a day in her life unless it was on her sport, her parents sponsored every move she made. suddenly, she was twenty-three and on the olympic team and just weeks before competition, the worst happened. she slipped on top of the platform, and ended up injuring her leg so badly she was forced to withdraw from competition.
her dream was crushed, and she spent a half a year locked away, healing her leg and cursing her life. she didn’t know how to be a person, outside of the sport.
after a stint at a wellness camp, she came back home to shrike heights and got a real job, ready to start her life as a normal person, and not an elite athlete. she was back in the pool, but this time teaching small kids how to swim. she just didn’t expect the murderer.
she’s bitter, still, about the way things have turned out. but she’ll be damned if a murderer in a stupid mask ruins her fresh start.
