Semester Reflection
This semester helped me understand how to express my ideas through different social media platforms and how each one has a different purpose and audience. I learned that not every platform works the same way, and some fit my style better than others.
Tumblr was definitely the best fit for me. It felt the most natural and comfortable to use. I liked how I could be more creative and relaxed with my posts and push more of my Y2K and girlhood aesthetic . The “diary” style of my brand worked really well on Tumblr because it allowed me to share thoughts in a more personal and aesthetic way without worrying too much about being formal.
Facebook was the most difficult platform for me. It felt more serious and less suited to my style. I found it harder to keep my posts feeling authentic, and I had to think more about how I was presenting myself instead of just posting naturally.
If I were to start over, I might choose a slightly different aesthetic or experiment more in the beginning. I think trying different styles early on would have helped me figure out what works best faster instead of just having to stick with one due to the nature of my brand!
My brand idea has mostly stayed the same throughout the semester. Diva Diary has always been about sharing my thoughts in a personal way and having people share their thoughts anonymously as well. That helped me stay focused and made my content feel more clear.
In the future, I would like to keep developing my brand by posting more often and maybe going more in-depth with my posts.
From my classmates, I learned that everyone has a different approach to branding, and there isn’t just one right way to do something, and I also got a lot of ideas from them.
In conclusion, I learned that I do best when I keep things simple and true to myself!
