As a Latino I feel so uncomfortable by the sexualization of latino characters by the RDR2 fandom, especially Javier.

I could write for days about the sexualization of Javier but really right now I want to talk about the sexualization of Flaco Hernandez, if you’ve ever played the game you know there’s a mission where you have to kill 4 gunslingers.

One of those is a Mexican man, he was a gunslinger and member of the ‘’Del Lobo gang’’

In the main game he is seen once and he doesn’t even get to talk that much, he just tells the player he’ll talk and then tries to kill you. And that’s it.

In Online you can see him a bit more, in your introduction to him he’ll shoot at your feet and generally be unlikeable. And that’s what I want to talk about.

I see Flaco fetishized all the time, he is portrayed as a suave (albeit quirky or akward) Latino man, who says Amor all the time and random spanish words thrown in by people, who think that us Latinos just speak spanglish all the time to people who don’t even speak spanish. And that’s fetishizing, you’re ignoring the real personality of this character, a ruthless, asinine, murderer. And replacing it with a suave Latino daddy.

And don’t even get me started about how Javier is reduced to just a sex symbol by white women on this fandom….

If you only see Latino men (and women) as sexual beings, you have to get yourself checked.

El último es fanon, le inventé con que Flaco al final escapaba de Ambarino por el río de Valentine (tal y como dice en una de sus misiones en el rdo) y que con eso logro llegar a México, en dónde se instaló con un ranchito pequeño. La gente lo deja en paz, han oído sobre el pero no están 100% seguros que sea del todo cierto.
