Akashi laughed. So he knew?

“Why didn’t you decide to continue basketball? You have a really unique talent.”

"I had to stop due to an injury in my knee… I was dumb and I pushed myself too hard one day and did some permanent damage to it. If I played in games anymore, I wouldn’t even be able to walk." Akashi said casually. “Thank you though… Basketball was all I really did back then."

"Seirin?… I remember your team." Akashi chuckled a bit. “We definitely had some trouble with you. You were always disappearing. None of us could quite keep our eyes on you. You were something we never expected to run into."

"I can tell you that we were all very surprised to be beat by you. I guess we were just a little too confident. We didn’t expect that from a new team… You were very strong." Akashi stood up and picked up his plate, guessing that they wouldn’t be eating anymore tonight. He went over to collect Kuroko’s plate as well.

“I suppose I was pretty eager.”

Akashi picked up Kuroko’s plate. He leaned down a bit so he could meet the others’ eyes. “I hope you didn’t mind me noticing… People have told me its a bad habit of mine." Akashi always was able to read emotions and movements very well. Some found it very annoying since it was so difficult to hold a secret from him.

Akashi scraped the left over food into the garbage and placed the dishes in the sink.

"I had to go school." Kuroko spoke lightly, his voice reflecting disappointment. "It became harder and harder to balance being on the team and doing school work. I had to quit." After he had fully explained his situation, he listened closely to what Akashi had to say. Hearing his words almost caused pain to Kuroko. He had a hard enough time having to quit the team, but not being able to play again-- He couldn't even imagine what that must feel like. Kuroko nodded in response. "That's unfortunate. I'm sorry that happened." He wasn't quite sure why he was apologizing. The injury wasn't his fault-- But somehow, he truly felt bad for the other. "We were surprised to beat you." Kuroko watched him stand, standing up as well. "Your team seemed to have a much higher skill level. But Kagami-kun and I wouldn't give up." He laughed lightly as he said this. It had been a while since he had thought about Kagami. The two of them truly were a match made in basketball heaven. "Ah, no. I did not mind." Akashi surprised him, but he didn't feel particularly bothered by it. It's not as if Kuroko had anything to hide. He brushed himself off and walked towards the sink. "Would you like me to finish the dishes?"
