2016 has been a mostly miserable year.  The Primaries took over the news cycle, then came the Campaign. The news became center stage.  CNN and MSNBC saw major ratings spikes.  Perhaps foretelling the Electoral College result, the winner of the cable news sweepstakes was Fox News.  Fake News became a thing.  Of course, with Fox News winning the ratings battle, that should come as no surprise. Death was in the news like mad in 2016: musicians galore, lots of others.  It would be impolitic and perhaps unduly foreboding to segue right to the death of Democracy.  Generals, billionaires, nativists and nationalists (and a bunch of anti-Semites and racists) coming into powerful positions. 

Whatever could this possibly indicate might be ahead?

Hello, it isn't Todd Rundgren, it's me

With each new groovy web communications tool, especially those of a social flavor, there is this need to not just post, but to establish a beachhead, an outpost, somehow make a statement but not do so in a garish or obnoxious way. 

It seemed appropriate to say, Hello, it's me.  However, to those of a certain age, those words are forever and rightfully associated with with Todd Rundgren, and his excellent song of the same name

If you are familiar with the song, then by now it is going around in your head.  Catchy tune!  If not, you should listen to it, and you can read the lyrics just below the screen on this video of Hello, It's Me.

Since a Tumblr blog is often introduced with some sort of Hello World first post, this second post will have to suffice.  deanland is now on tumblr.  Hello, it's deanland.  It's also tumblr.  And in this little post, it is also Todd Rundgren, despite what the title may say.
