Research about Character.ai!

Hi! I shared my research here a little over a week ago, but I thought I would post it again for posterity, just in case anyone interested in participating didn't see my original post. Last time, I promise, haha!

I’m Camille Kinsella, a Master's student in the Communications and New Media MA program at McMaster University. I am looking for volunteers who are over 18-years-old and use (or have used in the past) CharacterAI as a part of their fandom practice.   The study is for my thesis project and looks at how some individuals within fandom communities have incorporated AI chatbots into their fan practices. Some scholars theorize that AI might be playing a role in “eroding the participatory nature of fandom,” making fandom a more individualized experience rather than a community-based one. This study aims to investigate this claim through an online survey and will take approximately 10-15 minutes of your time!

Headcanon that it’s only George that’s perceiving DreamXD as Dream. He pointed out the fact that they looked exactly the same, and even kept mistaking the two, while the others clearly could point out a difference well enough that they wouldn’t freak out thinking that that Dream broke out of prison the instant they saw him–  as well as be much more horrified by DreamXD while George was only ever just disturbed. /rp
