Dear straight people, queer people are not here to be your fetish.Â
Dear Straight People, Please wonder if I’m comfortable answering your questions about my sexuality. I will answer them, but be respectful. Dear Straight People, Please stop telling me my sexuality is a tumblr creation. Just because tumblr is willing to be more informational than my health class doesn’t make it any less valid. Dear Straight People, Please don’t tell me I’m lame because I feel uncomfortable if you use the word ‘gay’ out of context. Because I’m too nervous to point it out when people say it now. Dear Straight People, Please Think. Dear Everyone, Please Think.
Dear Straight Parents, Please stop assuming that I'm only identifying as bi because my best friend is. Please stop assuming that I soak up other people's "issues" (which are not issues at all) like a dry sponge. Please stop talking about my possible straight future with guys and leaving out the other alternative. Please stop trying to wait this "phase" out. I've been bi my whole life, and sometimes I was terrified. Now I'm not, and I wanted to start celebrating that by telling you. I was so happy, but you were so nervous about it and treated it like it was a bomb that could kill me, and now I'm starting to feel that terror creeping back in. I get why you want me to wait to come out, and I know I might be bullied or make people uncomfortable if I came out, but the fact that I can't feels like a disgusting, sticky trap.
Dear straight friends, stop calling me "half straight". - A Bi person
Dear straight family,
Please stop referring to heteronormative examples when talking to me about relationships. Please don't call me queer. I feel really uncomfortable when you say that. Please don't question my feelings towards other people. Please don't say that being gay is "wrong", because even though I'm not gay, it makes me really scared about coming out to you. Please don't think of me as only your "little girl". I'm sometimes also your "little son" and "little child". Please don't shut me out/ignore me when I finally come out to you about my gender. Sincerely, a genderfluid pansexual
Dear straight people, queer people are not "ashamed of who they really are" just because they don't fit your warped idea of how queer people "should" act. We are not monolithic; we are just as diverse in our interests and behaviors as straight people are. Also, even if someone is ashamed of their sexuality, simply telling them not to be--in a society that TEACHES them to be ashamed--really isn't going to help at all.
Dear parents, stop trying to label her as my friend. We're dating.
You don't have to be a "gold star lesbian" for your sexuality to be valid!!
Dear Straight People,
We are not here for you to flaunt around so you can feel good about yourself. Don't 'support' us to make you feel validated, support us because it's what a decent person does. We are not your good deed for the day. - A pissed off Bi girl
Dear Straight People,
Don't try and silence us when we talk about our sexuality. I'm here, I'm queer, and I'm not obligated to remain silent about it or have it be brought up only when you need a reminder about how awesome you are for being a decent human being. - Sincerely, a proud Bisexual girl
But being aro means you don't want a relationship??? If you are aro aren't you automatically ace??? I don't understand please help I can't find anything to awnser these questions???
you can want sex without wanting a relationship
Dear straight people, if you say you wouldn't date someone who is bi, that is bi-phobic and you're an asshole.
Dear Parents
Please stop trying to cover up your homophobia with Christianity and the bible. It is not only making me question my relationship with you it is also making me question my religious faith. ~Your closet bisexual son
Straight people,
Who do you think you are to tell us how we should live? How dare you. How dare you tell us we don't deserve to be treated equally. How dare you tell us we cannot adopt children. How dare you harass us on the streets and in businesses and in our homes. How dare you push your values and religion on to us. How dare you tell us how we feel is a lie. How dare you tell us we are lesser than you for being in love.
Dear straight people, If I say I'm a trans guy I IDENTIFY AS A GUY if I say I'm a trans woman I IDENTIFY AS A WOMAN. We wouldn't call ourselves what we don't identify with.
Dear straight people, If you support the LGBT+ community, thank you so much, because we need you. But please don't act like you need to be put on some pedestal for not being an asshole. Please don't ever act like what you face as a supporter comes anywhere near what it's like to actually be a person of the LGBT+ community, because it doesn't. Please don't make anyone feel obligated to praise you just because you are a decent human being. Please remember that supporters are there to support.
Dear straight people, please stop.
