YOU COLLECT SCARS BECAUSE YOU WANT PROOF THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR WHATEVER SINS YOU HAVE COMMITTED
my hands are not clean and maybe they never will be but they can still carry you home when you’re ready to sleep
Airiam and Ellen Landry still alive in the Mirror Universe
Side-By-Side Looks At Prime And Mirror Universe Characters On Star Trek: Discovery, originally posted on CBS.com
terres-arides:
Yeah, no. This was one of the first things he was taught in medical school. Supporting a patient means not taking the choice out of their hands, even if they really, really, want you to.
“I can’t give you certainties. Statistics inaccurately imply a final outcome. But.”
He looks down at his padd, looks at the numbers, thinks about what they say and what she’s said about her own health. Makes a choice to his duty of care.
“In two out of ten worlds, you would carry a baby to full term, healthy. In another two worlds, you would carry a child with some birth defects, I’d have to do some more analysis to tell you what specifically, and how treatable they would be. In five worlds, that’s a full half, you would have a miscarriage or stillbirth some time before delivery. And in one of those ten worlds, you would suffer debilitating effects from the pregnancy, possibly fatal. So that’s a sixty percent chance of failure. Not certain by any means, but I would suggest that if you don’t want the child we plan to induce abortion so that the tenth option doesn’t come to pass.”
Ellen took a deep breath. The odds weren't good. They had never been. It was almost impossible that she had gotten pregnant. Lightning never strikes the same place twice and her luck would run out before she carried the baby to term.
"I want to induce an abortion. I'll ask Ash to cover my shift for me. That way the captain won't suspect anything. I'll need to tell Ere. She has the right to know." That was going to be the hardest conversation. Ere will probably be angry. She has every right to be, Ellen thought.
"When can I take the medicine? Do you want to supervise me or can I stay in my quarter?" Ellen knew the basics of the process, but given her... unique health issues, the Doctor may want to be more involved. "And, t-thank you, Doctor Culber."
Condensing My Verses
So, I’m combining the verse where Mirror! Ellen takes over Discovery (verse: don’t tell anyone that I have a heart) and the one where Mirror Ellen and Prime Ellen switch places after the Tardigrade attack.
This new verse is called “Watch the queen conquer”. Basically after arriving on Discovery, mirror! Ellen passes herself off as prime Ellen until she gets a chance to take over Discovery and take it with her into the mirror universe
Lol, forgot I did this.
[ @deathbytardigrade || Mirror Stamets & Landry ]
“And what do you want, you brute?” Stamets grumbled, full well knowing Landry’s footsteps as she entered his lab. He raised an eyebrow and turned to look at her, blue eyes narrowed as he looked at her. “Tell Lorca whatever he needs me for, I’m busy keeping my cover in the empire.”
Ellen pulled out her dagger and artfully twirled it in her hand. She grinned harshly at Stamets. “I’m just checking in, Doctor. Lorca wants to know your progress.” She used one arm to boost herself up onto a counter and sat there, still toying with her dagger.
@deathbytardigrade, cont. from here.
Ellen gave him a half-hearted glare before her expression changed to one of sadness. “I’m sorry. For what it’s worth, I stopped seeing him. It’s just my rotten luck that the last time we were… together, he apparently got me pregnant.”
She sighed and curled up on herself. “I can’t tell the captain. He could react badly. I don’t want to tell Ere, but I should. I’ll just wait until this… thing is out of me. You’ve read my file. It’s a miracle I got pregnant. There’s no chance I’ll stay that way.” Ellen knew that she had messed up. Still, part of her hoped she could salvage her relationship with Ere. Even though at this rate, the chances were slim.
She’s just gonna have to forgive him for not being too sympathetic, cause he’s not apologizing. So he crosses his arms, and takes a step back, doing what he would for any old patient who came into his sickbay- problem-solving- but with little of his usual bedside manner attached.
“So you just want to wait it out?”
It could be a very effective way of putting off any consequence, he agrees. Pragmatic to the immoral end. Waiting for a miscarriage instead of desperately trying to carry to term or taking two little pills under careful watch. As her doctor, though, he has to weigh the risks of letting her go about it unsupervised.
Ellen took a deep breath. "As much as I wish this was out of my hands, I need to take responsibility. What are the chances this will make it to term?" She combed through her ponytail with her fingers as she tried to think of a way, a formula to answer her situation.
Internally she thought, 75% or more and I'll try to keep this. Even though I'll have to tell Ere. She didn't even want to think about how Lorca would react. Less than 75% and I'll abort. No use putting myself through any more difficulty than necessary
I made a mood board for Landry’s many moods.
“ i don’t want to tell anyone until i’m twelve weeks. past the risk for miscarriage. ” (from @deathbytardigrade in case you wanted some drama & angst)
Hugh is, at the best of times, a little snappy. And this is amplified when, for all his duty of care, he stands before a woman who was pretty clearly stepping out on her girlfriend (his friend) and is now left with physical proof of that affair. So the words out of his mouth are a little unfortunate.
“Normally, I’d ask if you want me to call the chaplain to talk about it with you, but....”
He leaves it dangling in the air, like a spider suspended by a delicate silk thread. He knows. And she will know that he knows.
Ellen gave him a half-hearted glare before her expression changed to one of sadness. “I’m sorry. For what it’s worth, I stopped seeing him. It’s just my rotten luck that the last time we were... together, he apparently got me pregnant.”
She sighed and curled up on herself. “I can’t tell the captain. He could react badly. I don’t want to tell Ere, but I should. I’ll just wait until this... thing is out of me. You’ve read my file. It’s a miracle I got pregnant. There’s no chance I’ll stay that way.” Ellen knew that she had messed up. Still, part of her hoped she could salvage her relationship with Ere. Even though at this rate, the chances were slim.
