if you're wondering where I've been, the answer is at the bottom of some pit of grief and despair. i'm struggling with a bad depressive episode brought on by the death of my beloved therapy dog of fifteen years, who died a couple of weeks ago and was my entire reason for living for many of those years. i'm not taking it well, and that first week things got real suicidal real fast if i'm being honest. so i've been trying to claw my way up out of that, and it's been a monumental effort just to do those tasks required for daily living and to do my very demanding job. i am tired and i am sad and i am living my life minute by minute.

i'm home sick again. just as i was getting over the bronchitis, i woke up with a throat full of blisters on saturday. i felt better sunday and worked yesterday but i woke up this morning feverish and my head is pounding.

i've been sick with some kind of upper respiratory thing since dec 23rd and i'm just about finished with a 10 day course of antibiotics and i'm not better. i can't seem to catch my breath and i'm coughing all the time and it's... really gross and i'm so exhausted i can barely function. i'm behind on a bunch of stuff and very overwhelmed and a bit concerned i might have covid so i took tomorrow off and i'm going to try and get in to see my dr.

so after i posted on thursday, my dad ended up taking my mom to the hospital, yesterday they performed a minor procedure, it went well, she should be discharged today i think. at the same time, my uncle was in a hospital up north (he's been in and out and nearly died like 3x in as many weeks) and we thought he was dying,... i guess made another miraculous recovery and they decided to discharge him. this has facilitated more talking with my sisters in a day than i usually do all year but surprisingly it was all positive. i woke up this morning feeling crappy (sore throat, etc) so i'm just. more stardew valley for me i think.

winter break starts today. i just slept 9 hours, which is super intense. my shoulders and lower back feel really tight so i'm going to take my meds. all i really want to do today is listen to murder podcasts and play stardew valley but maybe after some coffee and medication I will be up to writing or at least plotting some things.

there is just. so. much. drama. going on in my family right now. i'm feeling a lot of big feelings and they are not positive.

today i made the world's ugliest science fair trifold board, which i stayed very late at work to make, and then i got stuck waiting for not one but two trains to pass on the way home, and then sat down to have a surprise deeply emotional trauma-rending phone call with my older sister about shit that went down twenty years ago. i cannot seem to regulate my emotions since the phone call and now i'm going to bed feeling like absolute shit.

in rp news, i got icons for jonny's blog today and they're fucking gorgeous but i'm too tired and emotionally wrung out to even use them.
