Workers have begun removing sheathing and windows from Watson Paper, in preparation for demolition
The EMI pedestrian bridge demolition is complete.
The Erie Malleable Iron plant in all its glory. The 4 story office building at the corner of the 6-acre factory will now be saved, along with stable adjoining buildings. That's good news from a preservation standpoint.
A bit of the overhead pedestrian walkway [see previous photos] can be seen at the very right edge of the photo.
Incidentally, another pedestrian walkway was demolished when its foundry across the side street was torn down in 2006. If you look between the second-floor windows on the left side of the corner offices you can see where it was attached.
A photo of the foundry demolition, shot from behind the complex along Cherry Street:
A current view of the EMI complex is on the left. The repurposed railroad overpass is used as a walkway to a parking lot behind EMI:
The pedestrian bridge demolition is nearly complete. The shell, roof supports, and floor have been removed. The street will be closed and the remaining concrete beams will be demolished mid-September.
Demolition continues on the overhead pedestrian bridge. The area where the brick walls have been removed is this room.
