Teak Carving of the Fish King Arnon now available at Decor Direct Wholesale Warehouse in Sarasota, FL. 

This intricate carving, done all by hand in teakwood brings to life the legend of the Fish King Arnon.  Lighted matching teak display case illuminates the spectacular sculpture. This masterpiece was painstakingly created by hand out of the difficult to carve hardwood teak.  The density of the wood allowed the sculpture to create the gossamer quality of the delicate gills, wings and foliate details.

By legend in the culture of Thailand, Arnon is the first sea creature placed by the Gods on the vast ocean when the universe was created.  The legend is that every time the earth shakes or a tsunami occurs, it is caused by the fish king Arnon moving. Fish King Arnon is a symbol of the power of nature and the flow of life.

Customers often ask about the difference in height between standard, counter and bar height dining tables.  Here’s some info to help you choose!  

Standard Height Tables: Pros: Standard Height Tables are generally 29″ to 32″ tall. They are more common and most people find standard height tables are more comfortable to sit at because their feet touch the ground while they are seated. Standard height tables are considered more formal than counter height tables and might be a better fit into a formal themed dining area because of this.

Counter Height Tables: A Counter Height Table is generally in the 35″ to 37″ height.  With its additional height can be used near the kitchen for an additional prep area. Counter Height Tables are also considered more casual, and make it easier to converse with others standing in the room. They give the illusion of taking up less space than a lower table and can work well in small areas. Because Counter Height Tables are considered less formal, they create a more relaxed, casual atmosphere than sitting at a lower, more formal table.

Bar Height Tables: These tables are typically around 40"-43" in height. Therefore, the bar stools are in the 28"-30" range, but we also carry adjustable height stools. Bar height furniture is most commonly used with home bars but can also be found in some pub sets and counter set-ups. These tables often be mistaken for Counter Height Tables and vice-a-versa. The advantages of a Bar Height Table are the same as Counter Height Table but they are more casual.  The difference between standing and sitting is even more blurred. Bar Height tables are perfect for creating casual seating in a relaxed atmosphere.

Reclaimed Barn Wood Siding Accent Wall

At Decor Direct, we have a great selection of weathered grey barn wood.  We salvage barns, houses, fences and any other wood that can be reclaimed.  We have a vareity of salvaged wood, lumber, timbers and even beams in stock.  

Plank selection is one of the most important factors for an interior reclaimed barn siding install. 

Depending on the size of the barn or other structure that we got the salvaged wood from, there will be lots of variation in thickness, age, and how its exterior was finished.

For versatility, choose weathered planks that don’t have loads of paint less on them.     Most interior designers prefer barn siding with gray, sun-faded coloring since gray is considered a new neutral.  Greys work seamlessly with every color in the spectrum, and especially are suited to the sun drenched coastal vibe so popular in Florida.

About Antique Glass Fishing Net Float Nautical Decor

At Decor Direct, you will find a wonderful selection of nautical salvage and antiques, such as antique Japanese glass fish net floats. 

A maritime glass fish net float such as this was attached to the top of the net while lead weights were used to hold the lower end of the net down in the water. They would string out a long sections of the netting to trap fish. The netting would be formed into a round circle, or pulled on to the beach so the trapped fish could be sorted. We have glass fish net floats from mini size to overs 12 inches wide with a circumference of over 42 inches. 

On Decor Direct’s antique fishing floats, you will see a “pontil” mark on the bottom of the float, indicating it was hand blown. Because of the knotting of the rope, the ball will easily sit in an upright position for decor purposes or suspend from an overhang,wall, gazebo or tiki hut. 

These glass fish net floats often break way from the attachment point on the net and end up floating around the ocean until some lucky beachcomber finds them as they drift ashore.  Most of the glass fish net floats that show up today have new rope because it does not take long for the effects of saltwater to destroy the original rope. But at Decor Direct, you’ll find both old rope and repaired rope on the floats. 

Glass fish net floats will add a great nautical, beachy and coastal touch inside or out that can be displayed and enjoyed for years to come.

Worthy of the Czars: Gus Khrustalny Crystal

Just in: a fabulous assortment of antique and vintage collectibles like this set of 6 vintage champagne flutes 24% lead crystal from Russia.  New with original stickers!

The Gus-Khrustalny crystal factory was established in 1756 by the famous manufacturer Akim Maltsov. This factory produced some of the most exquisite 24% lead crystal in the world.  Both nobleman and the common-men used Maltsov crystal products on their tables. 

The royal families of the tsars were regular customers and you can find many of the artistic works from this antique factory in many museums of Russia today.   In 1857, the crystal factory was granted permission to depict the state coat of arms of Russia on all items produced from the Tsar of Russia, Alexander II.   At the universal exhibition in Paris in 1900, the factory won the highest prize of grand prix.    

The crystal was produced by master artisan hand-blow, hand-cut, hand-paint and sometime hand-etch each of these beautiful works of art  using techniques passed down through the centuries.   These products can be easily distinguished by their beauty, elegance, originality and virtuosity of performance, variety of forms, color spectrum and decor in lead crystal, cased lead crystal, glassware, colored glass and artistic products.

Sleek and Functional Small Size Mid century Dining Set 

We are excited to offer this rare set 1950′s teak dining table and four chairs.  Designed in the early 1950s by Hans Olsen, it was handcrafted by Frem Røjle in Denmark. The set is made from teak and mahogany, with seating upholstered in leatherette.
