99. “Is this more than you bargained for yet?”
Gunshots whizzing past and ricocheting off a rusted car they hunkered down behind, the nauseating scent of metal on metal crime wasn’t exactly how Shinya wanted to spend his Sunday. Under his arm, he pressed down the head of the girl accompanying him to this firefight — the last thing he wanted was to fill out the additional report for a civilian casualty. “I told you— Mimi was it — it would have been safer for you to stay at the milk bar,” a slug sparked by shattering one of the windows, “I would have gotten your bag back for you. There’s no reason to get shot for a handbag — doesn’t even look like a designer.”
It was supposed to a simple mission: confine the convict, find the stolen goods, get the reward. Somewhere along the line Markus, who clearly wasn’t above petty theft, put a mark on this girl entering Deadman’s Playground and made off with her belongings. Shinya’d get an earful about this later but it was either let her tag along or lose his criminal in this cesspool of felons. “Even you know better than to get between a girl and her purse Shinya~" The voice echoed amongst them with no body to attach itself to.
"Just tell me how it looks on your side Azazel," Shinya responded back, reloading his clip.
“He’s going past the merry-go-round, though it looks like he’s calling for back up; damn they’re like roaches. His getaway is probably on its way, and I don’t wanna tell you how to do your job, but if you want to get paid you might want to make move sometime this year.”
"Gotcha." He quickly scanned their surrounding in the trash heap, looking over to the girl briefly, "we’re going to chase him, if you have any Pokemon left on you you should get them ready. I’m pretty good at what I do, but it never hurts to be prepared," he tenderly smiled, the visible scars covering a good portion of his body were good example.
