I’m sorry it’s kinda hard to picture her in that light, but I don’t think she’s incapable of showing love. Would she give her baby hugs and kisses😘😘💕💕 or would she be like “good job now stay over there?”
Yes, I think Tanya would definitely be an overprotective parent lol!
To answer your new question, I think she’d be more like the second scenario, but...she’d have her moments.
I feel like having a family to love and care for would inevitably change Tanya’s personality just a little bit. I think she’d always have her outwardly tough and confident demeanor, but behind closed doors she would rock her child to sleep, calm them when they cry, read to them, etc. And inevitably, this would cause Tanya to soften up a little inside. I think she would be the tougher parent of the two, but still one that can get up in the middle of the night and calm her child after a nightmare, among other delicate things.
Usually, I think Tanya’s own love language would be spending time in the same room as her family while working on her own tasks (reading a book, writing a report for work, etc). That’s not to say she wouldn’t join in on something when asked to, though. I bet she’d love playing strategy-based games like chess with her child when they’re a bit older. She’d probably be less fond of board games that are more luck-based, but she’d play them to make her child happy.
Been reading Mutally Assured Destruction. Great stuff, really enjoying it. I do wanna ask though; in the fic Tanya comes across almost more emotional, warm, not out of character per se but I don’t think you would expect this level of sentiment from novel or anime Tanya. Was this a deliberate decision? Maybe just how Lillia sees her? Either way I’m super loving the story!

I definitely agree with you that Tanya wouldn’t normally act that warm in the light novel or anime (the manga’s probably the most emotional iteration of Tanya, but even she wouldn’t say something of things that Tanya says in MAD).
Tanya has undergone quite a bit of character development over the course of MAD. Some of the things she says in the more recent chapters would never have been uttered by her in the beginning of the story. By having this romantic relationship with Lillia, Tanya is starting to learn to connect better with her own emotions, as well as those of others.
But at the same time...she’s also saying what she knows Lillia wants to hear. Tanya would prefer to have the fewest number of conflicts possible with Lillia, and she’s willing to say what she knows will make Lillia happy. Whether she always fully believes what she’s saying... Well... It’s hard to be sure. I think that’s up to speculation.

Ahh loving this idea! Sorry that it’s taken me so long to respond to this, btw. I keep trying to write this answer but end up going on long tangents. I’ll try to keep my ideas organized this time.
So, I imagine living so many years while fighting a war would have quite an impact on Tanya’s psyche. I think by the end of the war, it’s fair to say she’d have endured an incredible amount of trauma. This raises the question: why would Tanya want to bring a child into this world? Maybe because her husband wanted it, and she decided to appease him (or maybe it was even an accident, lol). Whichever the case, let’s say Tanya finds herself having a child.
Before/right after the baby is born, I feel like she would have to be constantly begged by her husband to be more careful, get more sleep, take some time off of work, etc. Tanya is used to working constantly, working late, and barely sleeping. It would be hard for her to mentally transition from only having to worry about herself to having to worry about someone else as well. But as everyone encourages her to rest, she might actually enjoy maternity leave because it’s the first time in a long time she will feel justified to relax.
But she still can’t shake the feeling that it’s a mistake to bring another soul into this world.
She may become paranoid that Being X will try to involve her child in their battle, which isn’t an irrational worry considering the crazy shit he’s pulled in the past. So as the child begins to grow up, Tanya will constantly be looking over her shoulder for any sign of Being X. By far, her worst fear would be that he would bestow her child with the same godly curse that he gave to Anson Sioux, Mary Sioux, and Tanya. And who’s to say this isn’t possible? Tanya is a powerful mage, so her child may be too.
And Tanya’s protectiveness of her child wouldn’t just extend to Being X--all of her anxiety over somebody laying a hand on her kid would extend to anything, playground bullies included. In my opinion, Tanya would totally be the parent who would see her child being excluded from a game by the neighborhood kids and decide to sit out on her porch to watch them. While polishing her rifle. And maybe her sidearm too.
The war may be over, but with all of the trauma Tanya’s been through, and her fight with Being X always continuing, I think she’d still carry her weapons with her wherever it’s allowed. People around town would probably whisper that she’s been driven a bit crazy by her childhood on the battlefield, but Tanya wouldn’t care. She would rather come off as crazy than have people underestimate her.
While Tanya has every intention of doing what’s best for her child, I’m sure her child doesn’t always appreciate it. I mean, it can’t be easy when your mom is the “scary, possibly crazy” lady in the neighborhood. Nobody would want to come to your house after school! Tanya may be a respected war hero in the national news, but the adults of the neighborhood see her as a commander-turned-parent who needs to be less authoritative and lighten up a little.
Nonetheless, I’m sure Tanya’s child would look up to her as a role model of strength and confidence. And I’m sure her child would love her deeply.
Hi! To add on to that seven deadly sins ask, Meliodas is a 3000 year old immortal demon, and his lover is a Goddess who reincarnates after she dies, they’re both cursed to where Meliodas always has to see Elizabeth die and come back. Let’s say Meliodas does try to move on from Eliz to Tanya, but it takes time since he loved her for 3000+ years. Tanya does love Meliodas, so how would she deal with that? Would she give him time? Jealously? Do something to Eliz? Eliz won’t lose him without a fight.
Hmmmm, much to think about. To start, I’m trying to decide if I think Tanya would give him time.
Idea 1) I feel like at first, she wouldn’t want to give Meliodas time. Since Tanya is selfish and self-serving, she’s probably going to be extremely jealous of Elizabeth and (initially) give Meliodas a really hard time about taking so long to move on from her. Despite the fights this might cause, Tanya and Meliodas would probably stay bonded together through their necessity to overcome dangers and win fights together (well, whatever overarching conflict they’re dealing with depends on which anime’s universe they’re in, but you get what I mean). And in the end Tanya will realize that her jealousy of Elizabeth is not as great as how much she cares for Meliodas. And besides, she’s had to be extremely patient throughout her war with Being X. All she needs is a little patience to have Meliodas all for herself, right?
Idea 2) Perhaps at first, Tanya is jealous out of her mind about Elizabeth still being in the picture, and desperately thinks of some way to expedite the process of getting Meliodas for herself. Maybe, even if things are going fairly well with Meliodas, she decides that she’ll never have him completely for herself unless Elizabeth is out of the picture. So she plans and executes an assassination of Elizabeth (stop me if this is too dark). Of course, that could be how she learns that Elizabeth can’t be stopped by killing her--she reincarnates every time. And this could cause a major blow to Tanya and Meliodas’ relationship for a while. It would be tough for her to regain his trust without some manipulation... So, I guess this particular story would only work if her true love for Meliodas develops after this terrible series of events. I assume it’s traumatic for him to have to witness it every time Elizabeth dies, so finding that Tanya killed her would hurt him deeply. In the end, Tanya realizes how cruel this was to do to him, and that’s when she begins to understand how it feels to truly love and care for someone.
Welp, those are my ideas. Sorry if they’re a bit messy, but I hope you enjoyed them!
Wow this is an interesting topic! I feel like Tanya would like someone who can stand on equal ground as her, someone who can give her a challenge. Then that can grow into love because she’ll gradually stop seeing you as a tool and more as a person. If you’re weak and submissive, you’re only an object for her to control and might think you’re pathetic. Also, a s/o who’s like “You’re mine, you just don’t know it yet.” Might be a turn on for her, or even cause her to blush and feel giddy.
OMG ahhhh that sounds like such a good fanfic idea! I need to get ahold of myself and restrain from writing anything else until I’ve at least uploaded the next chapter of MAD, but it’s hard when y’all are providing such good headcanons like this!!
I noticed the game was released a few days ago! I watched the trailer and two things piqued my interest--or more specifically, two people.
Who are these cool, mysterious women?
They look really interesting, but I don’t plan to play the game since I can’t read Japanese. Does anyone know what their backstories are? All I’ve gathered so far is that their names are Nicole and Christina, though I don’t know which is which.
