When I say I’m otherkin it doesn’t mean I think I’m a deer. It means that spiritually I am a deer and I see my soul as a deer rather than a human soul. I fucking know I don’t have a tail or hooves, I’m not stupid
holy shit. “im not stupid”. wayyyy to throw mentally ill otherkin under the bus! nice to know that you hate people who show signs of any mental disability! cool!
Um sorry, but not all mentally ill people are stupid.
1) this is such a fuckin old post wtf
2) i didnt mean to say that mentally ill people are stupid (and the fact that you said “not all mentally ill people are stupid” means that you think some of them are? which is… ableist?) i meant that some mentally ill people could have actual delusions that they have a tail or hooves and they might think they are literally an animal. its ableist to call that kind of thinking “stupid” because it is a symptom of mental illness.
Stupidity means a lacking of common sense which dosn’t discriminate between the neurotypical and those who aren’t. Throwing the ‘ablist’ card is just stupid.
Just because someone says they aren’t stupid dosn’t automatically mean they hate mentally ill people,we cant just assume things like that.
I dont see how that phrase is connected to the hatred of people who suffer from delusions.
“stupid” is meant to degrade someone for not having some sort of knowledge, which is often used towards people with learning disabilities or developmental disorders, unknowingly or not. just because it can be used against someone who is neurotypical doesnt make it not ableist. you can use the r slur against a neurotypical person, and yet you still are meaning to make developmental disorders into an extremely negative thing.
they said theyre not stupid because they dont believe they have a tail or hooves. this means they think delusional people are stupid, which is an insult. that is ableist because they are directly insulting delusional people.
You cannot get into the head of someone and just assume they think delusions people are any less than them.Because then again, there are smart people who suffer from delusions, out of 7 billion people there has to be.
We’re in the ‘everything is racist, everything is sexist, everything is ablelist’ age where all of a sudden one word is said and people act like were triggering a mass chain reaction for someone on their behalf.
There are 101 arguments for and against what i just said. However this phrase that the OP said at the end of their post dose not have anything to do with their out look on delusional people (most likely).
Words like stupid or crazy are more versatile than what people say being such common words.A sentence that uses the word Stupid doesn’t always have to refer to a paranoid schizophrenic or someone who suffers from anything else but simply referring to common sense. We need to focus on implication, there is no direct or indirect or even implied discrimination against delusion people.
okay listen. first of all, branding people as specifically “smarter” than another is pretty damn ableist in the first place. in fact, the whole idea of “intelligence” is ableist, racist, classist, and sexist in the first place. i might try to find a link to an explanation because im sure i couldnt do it as well as someone else could.
but since we’re talking about ableism, i can tell you that since intelligence tests are based on school-learned information, reaction time, puzzle solving skills, etc etc, some mental illnesses or developmental disorders will inhibit people from being able to do well, essentially meaning they are not “smart” in a wide majority of people’s eyes. and since people judge others harshly and cruelly based on whether or not they are smart, and since many people would never dream of being friends with/dating a “dumb” person (“sapiosexuality” anyone?), this concept in inherently ableist.
also the op clearly said “im not stupid” in reference to them knowing they dont have a tail or hooves, which CLEARLY indicates they think people who do think those things are stupid. you really cant deny that? i dont know how or why youre trying to deny that.
also just because a word is common, that doesnt mean it isnt offensive? gay is used soooo much as an insult. the n slur is used by sooooo many non-black people extremely frequently as an insult or just by using it in a context they arent allowed to use it in. the r slur is used so damn frequently, i honestly cant trust any youtuber anymore because it seems like all of them use it! and yet, they are all offensive!
also “stupid” isnt just referring to common sense as you keep prattling on about, but even if it was, that would still be offensive to mentally ill people who dont have “common sense” as the general public defines it. autistic people dont have the “common sense” to look someone in the eyes when theyre talking to them, or to feel a certain way about things. people with adhd dont have the “common sense” to talk at a normal pace, or to organize their life in a routine. saying that someone without a certain knowledge is “stupid”, “dumb”, or any other word like that is insinuating that they are bad for not having said knowledge. and you honestly cant make the argument that those words arent meant to be insulting because yes, they absolutely are. their purpose is to be insulting.
The word stupid is an informal and versatile noun. When i say smart i mean someone who knows more about something than someone else does.
Discriminating because of intelligence is crappy sure but the idea of everything being systematically and purposefully meant to target some kind of oppressed group is wrong.
The education system is subjective and imperfect, yes.
Narcissism, is a personality disorder. Selfishness is a better word to use.
Offensiveness is subjective not inherent, it depends on opinion, outlook and attitude and history.
Autistic people have a way of thinking way more in depth and different which yes, dosnt conform with societal standards which is okay. compared to non autistic, autistic individuals focus on what catches their attention even when the general rule to a situation would condone doing so. People would say stupid because the person with autism could possibly be ignoring consequence which is something people and living things naturally do.
People are individuals and will interpret their behaviors differently, i personally see them as different but i can see clearly that they can have common sense. Yes, some don’t have common sense. Some neurotypical people don’t have common sense. Thats not an inherently ableist view.
As an example, you and i both know racism is bad. I know this individual with autism who is slightly older than me. He is racist, isalmophobic and doesn’t understand social cues, taboos and rules to it.He will say openly racist things and not understand the backlash when its clear to you and I.By definition of common knowledge and what it is, he donsnt understand it and therefore has none to that sensitive subject. Thats a fact, its nothing to do with ill will and yes we can see its not 100% his fault.
In a social cue i believe a word is only half the meaning of it, i think it also depends on intention and implication and history.
I want to keep this short and just for the record, i don’t have ill will towards you. This isn’t a roasting session.
Saying “im not stupid” is not a clear implication because its subjective and could refer something else, sure there is an error in the versitily of the noun. In this post the person isn’t talking bout people who suffer from delusions (i think) the subjects happen to overlap closely.
I feel that your attitude to paint people as a certain ‘ist’ is too quick to be 100% correct and that you should look into the individual before you pass such a heavy judgment on them.
it doesnt matter what YOU mean when you say “smart”, thats what the word MEANS. it MEANS being “intelligent”.
it might not always be intended to harm neurodivergent people, but it certainly does a whole lot more than it hurts anyone else.
offensiveness, yes, depends on history. the history of the word “stupid” is that it has been used to degrade mentally ill people for years. and yet you ignore it.
in your own scenario involving an autistic person, calling them stupid is wrong and offensive? okay?
saying that not having common sense in a horrible and awful thing is ableist because many disorders make the person less likely to have “common sense”. just because some neurotypical people fall under this label doesnt mean that the idea of it isnt ableist oh my lord. a shit ton of things that hurt the oppressed end up hurting the oppressors as well. its not as easy as you think it is.
in the subject about the autistic person who is racist, yes of course the racism is bad. but he’s not “stupid” for not having common sense? insulting him based on that would be hurting others who arent racist but have the same issues, because by attacking that part of the situation, youre letting others know that their behavior, even if it isnt racist, is bad. you see my point? its okay to call him out for being racist, but its NOT okay to insult him for being “stupid”.
the way the sentence is structured in the op, the “stupid” comment is directly linked to the “tail and hooves” comment. they arent separated. and even if they WERE, saying that they arent stupid in any relevance to putting others down or moving themselves apart from others is wrong. i wouldnt feel uncomfortable if someone who was only talking to themselves was saying that they arent stupid, because that seems like a counter to insults theyve previously received. and neurodivergent people can reclaim the word for themselves and only use it on themselves. but this post was specifically talking about others in the community who claim to believe they really are an animal, or believe they really have physical animal traits. and op setting themselves apart from those people by saying they arent stupid is referencing that divide. thus, meaning they think delusional people would be the “stupid” ones.
also im also not angry at you at all i really just dont think you understand fully. theres a certain context to this that makes what i say correct, and if it was in another context you would be correct. i also never said anything about specific people being “-ist” (unless i said op was ableist? in which case yeah thats true in this case) but when i use those words i generally mean the ideology being used is the “-ist”. if i ever call someone ableist, racist, etc based on one interaction im trying to make them see their error and how they come off to people. of course many will think im jumping to unreasonable conclusions but if someone can easily write you off as a mean dickwad, why would you want to act that way? i guess to upset people for fun? idk.
“doesnt matter what YOU mean when you say “smart”, thats what the word MEANS. it MEANS being “intelligent”.“By definition i just happen to be right about what i said, intelligence is about experience and how much the person knows
“it might not always be intended to harm neurodivergent people, but it certainly does a whole lot more than it hurts anyone else. ”
If applied to them, sure. They are alot more sensitive to that word but the word shouldn’t make someone an inherently ablest for saying something so variable in its meaning.
“offensiveness, yes, depends on history. the history of the word “stupid” is that it has been used to degrade mentally ill people for years. and yet you ignore it.in your own scenario involving an autistic person, calling them stupid is wrong and offensive? okay?” I know thats been happening, ive already mentioned thats wrong so im not ignoring it. Even if i hadn’t said so what? we both already know its bad to call someone stupid i shouldn’t have to fill that in, using the word stupid doesn’t ALWAYS have to be used in a discriminating fashion.
“saying that not having common sense in a horrible and awful thing is ableist because many disorders make the person less likely to have “common sense”. just because some neurotypical people fall under this label doesnt mean that the idea of it isnt ableist oh my lord.” Okay calm down,Common sense isn’t completely socially constructed and ridiculous it’s just the term used to describe things we should know which yes, having a mental disability gets in the way of which is why it’s harder for them to get the concept of common sense. If someone who has been burned by a flame before goes to touch the flame there is something wrong with that, it could be a disability which hinders ‘common sense’ to a degree as an affect of having said disability. Which of course due to reasons concerning manners we should never tell that person they are stupid but the negative response people have is an indirect way of teaching that what that person did is wrong(which again, disability gets in the way of)
"a shit ton of things that hurt the oppressed end up hurting the oppressors as well. its not as easy as you think it is.” You mean like the way nigger is used? Like how some don’t care while some will become violent when it’s used in certain context?
‘in the subject about the autistic person who is racist, yes of course the racism is bad. but he’s not “stupid” for not having common sense?’ The only reason why he would be called stupid (which I can’t control obviously)'is because he cant get the concept of the consequences which again is down to manners which I know, calling him stupid would be bad however correct since what he’s doing is wrong and isn’t aimed at his disability but at his actions
“insulting him based on that would be hurting others” (racism?) “who arent racist but have the same issues, because by attacking that part of the situation” (the racist part?) “youre letting others know that their behavior, even if it isnt racist, is bad.” (I’m lost at that point but such behavior is indeed negative because of the impact it has on surrounding parties) “see my point? its okay to call him out for being racist, but its NOT okay to insult him for being “stupid”.” Yes , I think you mean as in due to his autism he is more sensitive to the word stupid however it isn’t exactly smart for him to be ignoring the consequences of racism
“the way the sentence is structured in the op, the “stupid” comment is directly linked to the “tail and hooves” comment. they arent separated. and even if they WERE, saying that they arent stupid in any relevance to putting others down or moving themselves apart from others is wrong.” The person means that it wouldn’t be smart to link the body parts with reality which would be otherwise incorrect, the word “stupid” is used as the opposite word of smart (which is another way of saying “knowing”) they way they structured it is an informal way of saying he would be wrong.
neurodivergent people can reclaim the word for themselves and only use it on themselves.“ They are still people, the word cannot be exclusive to a certain group of people. Stupid is synonymously used to express something that is perceived as wrong although the not always in the right way.
"but this post was specifically talking about others in the community who claim to believe they really are an animal, or believe they really have physical animal traits. and op setting themselves apart from those people by saying they arent stupid is referencing that divide.” That person is expressing that they are not the same as those who believe the body parts are actually there. Sure he could of said wrong instead of stupid but it’s so minor that there is no real consequence. The word is not that intense enough in this context to define that person as an ableist. The OP most likely would treat someone who suffers with delusions with respect and manners by not calling them stupid and hasn’t mentioned these people in the post specifically because it’s not revolving around them, OP is just stating their believe that they are not like people who believe the parts are there in a non formal way which depending on each individual could be perceived as possible offensive.
goodness me this reply is intimidating what the hell uhhhh
listen, "stupid" is a word that judges people based on intelligence. judging people based on intelligence is an ableist concept. it doesnt matter if youre using it against someone who is neurodivergent or not, using it perpetuates the ableist idea it is built upon.
but wait are you saying you agree with me that we shouldnt make fun of people for not having "common sense"...? i honestly cant tell if thats what you meant sorry about that
no, i meant that calling someone stupid for not having common sense is going to make other people with those issues feel bad about themselves, while calling someone out for racism wont. thats what you concentrate on- the truly bad things, and not the things that will hurt someone else if they heard the way you were talking.
i have adhd. if i heard someone degrading someone else for reading slowly (being stupid?), getting words jumbled up (being... stupid?), or forgetting to do work (being........ stupid?) i would personally get upset and sad and think about my own actions. even if youre talking about a neurotypical person. and when you say the word "stupid" you are directly referencing an action or trait about someone, no? and when you reference that action or trait, youre saying only people lacking intelligence would do it, yeah? because thats what stupid means.
no. op meant stupid. unintelligent. in a degrading way. why do you think parents sometimes dont let their children say this word? because its rude, degrading and mean. yes i know its not harsh-sounding like cuss words, but it still has the essentially same meaning as "dumbass". thats what they meant. i DONT know why youre trying so hard to see this in a better light. i honest to god do not understand why you care so much about making op look better.
stupid means unintelligent. neurodivergent people are seen SO often as being unintelligent. wayyyy more than neurotypical people are. thats why they can reclaim it. to me, honestly, i wouldnt mind if someone who struggled with their intelligence or anything like that reclaimed it for their own, even if they were neurotypical but again, that means they can call themselves stupid and not other people.
in my humble opinion i think op would call delusional people idiots and say they werent actually otherkin for one reason or another. because they probably dont want to be associated with delusional otherkin. which is why they would call them stupid. honestly they didnt even need to bring up the "im not stupid" point, or call anyone wrong at all. just leaving it at "i dont think i have a tail or hooves" would make this post 100% fine because THEN it would only be referring to themselves and their beliefs. but because of their insinuation that believing in those things is unintelligent in some way, thats what links it to ableism.
ableism can be small, you know. it builds up, too. an unwanted nickname might be funny or harmless for a while but it'll build up and hurt. working to eliminate ableist ideas from your head isnt a bad thing. you dont need to defend something when ultimately, removing it from your vocabulary would only help, not hurt.
When I say I’m otherkin it doesn’t mean I think I’m a deer. It means that spiritually I am a deer and I see my soul as a deer rather than a human soul. I fucking know I don’t have a tail or hooves, I’m not stupid

"stupid" is meant to degrade someone for not having some sort of knowledge, which is often used towards people with learning disabilities or developmental disorders, unknowingly or not. just because it can be used against someone who is neurotypical doesnt make it not ableist. you can use the r slur against a neurotypical person, and yet you still are meaning to make developmental disorders into an extremely negative thing.
they said theyre not stupid because they dont believe they have a tail or hooves. this means they think delusional people are stupid, which is an insult. that is ableist because they are directly insulting delusional people.

Otherkin discrediting fictionkin discrediting factkin discrediting humankin discrediting otherkin.
Cause once you decide how the universe works, you get to decide how it works for all the other people who decided how the universe works.
i mean this is fuckin hilarious coming from you of all people but its also amazing how i agree with this 100%?
sp00ky
im deleting that post fromfiction reblogged from me because i dont wanna see a bunch of notes from it. they misinterpreted what i said and i guess other people also just dont care if i said anything worthwhile. so yeah its gonna look like im going back on my word or smthn but i really just need to be stress free for a while because i havent been doing the best lately, yeah? just gotta try and stay out of drama now. i probly wont even look at the tags for a while. also if im not stressed i'll be able to write better anyway
I wonder if there are people on here that used to be otherkin but eventually came to the realisation that it’s all bullshit. Genuinely would like to know
i mean yeah there are aways people who walk away from spiritual beliefs, with either fond or negative memories. some think its bullshit after their experiences and then some think it just wasnt for them but that it isnt, in fact, bullshit. you could have phrased your question better lmao
If you’re referring to the fact that I called it bullshit when saying I could have phrased ir better, then that’s just you’re subjective disliking of me using the phrase.
well i mean youre specifically making me tell you only if people leave the community and hate it, not asking anything of anyones positive feelings towards it. you want to know if people thought it was bullshit after leaving so that you could use that as fuel against us, not just as a genuine curiosity.
If someones no longer believes they are otherkin then there’s a good chance that they don’t believe that it even exists. Therefore they would think that it’s bullshit, even if they have fond memories of it. Bullshit doesn’t necessarily mean bad, just untrue.
mmm no, theres just a good chance that they dont believe that identity fit them. i know plenty of people who were once otherkin but still believe that its real for the people that still identify as such. honestly how long have you been closely observing us? and following people within the community and not just the tag? im gonna guess that the answer is not “for years” so im just gonna go ahead and say i know more about what people are like when they leave the community than you.
of COURSE there are people who stop believing in it (many of which arent gonna be as harsh as to call it literal bullshit but i guess you dont know the difference) but i have seen far more that simply tried it out and stopped believing it fit them.
Where did I say that everyone that stops believe they are otherkin stop believing in it all together? Hint, I didn’t. And whatever they chose to call it, bullshit or not, the wors is still applicable. Also I don’t think you know what literal means, unless you think that I think otherkin is LITERALLY bull feaces
you ASKED only about those who stop believing in it all together, and you ASKED only about the ones who would have used rude words. no one who doesnt want to use rude words to describe otherkin would agree with you that they in fact think its “bullshit”. can you HONESTLY not see the difference?
also can you just let me use words that people use nowadays and not correct me when you know full well what the fuck i mean, yeah?
Firstly, you’re the one getting hung up on words. Everyone knows what people mean when they hear someone use the word bullshit. Even if they think it’s a bit harsh they still get that it means untrue and if that stops people from talking to the person that used the word then they are childish af. I didn’t say “only respond if you call it bullshit now too”.
Secondly, yeah I did ask ONLY about those who stopped believing in it all together. And??? What is wrong with that? Seriously I wanna know
no no no listen im saying its disrespectful to label everyones “similar” experiences with the same harsh word when many probably wouldnt appreciate you saying they basically believe it that same way? you really dont see how there is a blatant connotation with the word bullshit? that it brings out negative feelings? really? no?
and then you were BAITING for someone to be like “yeah lol a ton of people have left and fuckin hated it and think all of it is dumb” because you ONLY wanted to hear the negatives and you ONLY wanted proof that there were people who used to be in the community and then left because they suddenly came to the realization that its all a big lie or something. dont try to make yourself look like you genuinely didnt know thats how your words came off. i responded because i was hoping youd see that there were two sides to the story and then youd be on your way with the information i gave you.
I know the negative connotations to the word, that’s why I used it, because it reflects how I feel about otherkin beliefs. If people don’t like that, that’s fine. If I said “untrue” instead I would be basically saying the same thing except I’d be giving the belief the respect I don’t think it deserves. As far as the sincerity of my question, I was being completely sincere. I didn’t and still don’t expect to get a response from someone who used to believe in it, I just thought that maybe there was someone out there and I could here a unique perspective.
The fact that all of this basically stems from me saying bullshit really shows how sensitive you are to any negativity. Beliefs are not exempt from criticism and if people can’t handle one slightly harsh word that had a genuine meaning within the context then that’s their problem
mmmkay well feel free to have a look through some anti-kin blogs, i swear there are ex-otherkin who send in asks every week at least.
this belief does in fact deserve respect and youre an asshole for thinking otherwise. i dont believe in christianity and obviously bad things have come from it but im not gonna go and call it bullshit, especially not in a place where many christians who are trying to enjoy their day are going to be. aka exactly what you did when you put this harshly toned, negative baiting post in a tag where you can pretty much guarantee no one who you WANTED to respond would see it because theyre long gone.
of course i was gonna focus on the wording before i went and called you an asshole because i dont like doing that right off the bat. but you clearly just wanted to stir up some drama in the tags and hear from others who hate the same spirituality as you for no goddamn reason.

“The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has a right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense” - Professor Brian Cox
That’s basically my philosophy on the matter. This is a public website in which anyone can post what they like and tag things how they like. Don’t like it? Go wrap yourself in cotton wool and enter your echo chamber when other people’s opinions won’t hurt your feels.
mmm that professor is an asshole then? just because someone has a smart title doesnt mean theyre not an asshole.
stop being an asshole maybe??? i love how people legitimately make awful fuckin comments and have backwards views and then theyre like “im not the problem youre just too sensitive!!”
like by the by im not being hurt by this. im not “"offended”“. im just amazed that someone really thinks its on the people theyre trying to get riled up to just get thicker skin when they themselves can easily fix this entire situation by being a SLIGHTLY nicer person. its fuckin hilarious really.
The problem is that you think theat people who say things even slightly disparaging towards a belief you hold, not towards the person lest we forget, are aresholes. Creationists would look at how I see the world and say that my beliefs are idiotic bullshit made up of lies and propaganda. Do I think that a person saying that is an areshole? No. They just have an opinion about a belief, which they are perfectly entitled to. I didn’t attack or say anything nasty towards you or any otherkin. I simple stated that I think otherkin beliefs are untrue with a word that is popularly used to mean untrue. Just because it’s a swearword you’ve gone on about how that essentially makes me an areshole. I’m not trying to get anyone riled up, and the fact that you think that my rather benign statement was an attempt to do that says more about you than it does me.
but theyre literally an asshole??? they think everything you believe is stupid lies. thats fucking awful. if they spew that stuff in spaces they know youre going to be, thats being an asshole!! i would never call your own non-belief in otherkin bullshit or lies. thats awful and mean and clearly i dont value the happiness of other people. like you.
also “bullshit” is commonly used to mean “untrue and stupid and bad and awful”. do you know why there are swear words? because they hold more connotations and more meaning and more weight than any other word similar to it. you cant just claim you only meant it in one way when you should know its going to actually mean many more, worse things to people than just “untrue”.
and yes you were putting clearly negative things in a tag where you KNOW otherkin are looking for friends, support, similar experiences, etc. they arent looking for people to rudely talk about their beliefs. and yeah i KNOW its the internet i KNOW its “”“legal”“” for you to be an asshole to us, but im telling you it would be beneficial for everyone if these types of things didnt happen. i dont know why people think that a goal of nobody being mean to anybody is somehow a bad idea? as if we desperately need negativity in this world?
i dont fucking know you can honestly just stop responding because i know you dont understand anything im saying for what its worth and not just for what you think of ~tumblr~ and their ~~crazy~~ politics. i never meant to legitimately get preachy here and im sorry im not talking about this on a post laced with much more negativity. it somehow ended up like this. and of course you decide to focus on how little you said instead of the larger problem at hand when that was what i was clearly trying to talk about. that push towards generality was my mistake but you again proved yourself to be a jerk by how you responded.
but i guess it doesnt matter right?
This just in. Criticising a persons belief and doing anything less to avoid hurting someones feelings makes you an arsehole. If that’s what you belief then that’s fine, just know that it’s your opinion and while many share it, many do not. You don’t get to decide who is or isn’t an arsehole based on sometning as trivial as that
thats not CRITICIZING, thats INSULTING!!! how can you honestly not see the DIFFERENCE good lord lmaoooo
I wonder if there are people on here that used to be otherkin but eventually came to the realisation that it’s all bullshit. Genuinely would like to know

well i mean youre specifically making me tell you only if people leave the community and hate it, not asking anything of anyones positive feelings towards it. you want to know if people thought it was bullshit after leaving so that you could use that as fuel against us, not just as a genuine curiosity.
Seriously I wanna know
no no no listen im saying its disrespectful to label everyones "similar" experiences with the same harsh word when many probably wouldnt appreciate you saying they basically believe it that same way? you really dont see how there is a blatant connotation with the word bullshit? that it brings out negative feelings? really? no?
and then you were BAITING for someone to be like "yeah lol a ton of people have left and fuckin hated it and think all of it is dumb" because you ONLY wanted to hear the negatives and you ONLY wanted proof that there were people who used to be in the community and then left because they suddenly came to the realization that its all a big lie or something. dont try to make yourself look like you genuinely didnt know thats how your words came off. i responded because i was hoping youd see that there were two sides to the story and then youd be on your way with the information i gave you.
I wonder if there are people on here that used to be otherkin but eventually came to the realisation that it’s all bullshit. Genuinely would like to know
