I was sorting out folders on my laptop, something I always do when I face a roadblock in my work, when I saw files after files of the past that I've been struggling to be free of.
This was shot in Hong Kong in 2015. It was the beginning of the end of an era for us.
It hasn't been easy, and I've never expected it to be so.
Tales were told, made up of a combination of lies and truths that were so tightly intertwined that one can never say for sure if they were real or fake. They were told by people who knew me deeply; or so they thought, and then spreaded on by people who didn't.
Five years was a long time to stay commited to any kind of relationship - work, friendship, love. Of course, people like to dramatise that he got the best years of my life and I made the wrong choice. But the fact remains that what we had may have been filled with lies, but I will never deny that many parts were real. I am tired of defending us, I am tired of explaining why I loved him. It was real, we cared for each other deeply, and he screwed up and I had to accept it and took the fall. The laughter, the growth, they were all good. The screaming, insults, threats, they were all terrible and very real. That is life. If you live it in extremes, you'll always get the extremes. There's no way out of it.
I mean, my problems had grown exponentially, they are deeper, but I'm more than capable to deal with them. Isn't that a wonderful lesson?

Things that inspire us:
Babafelt by Charlotte Kingsnorth
Babafelt is an easy chair evolved from the FeltUp chair.
Babafelt is made from thick natural wool felt. The felt sheet is cut and folded to make a cocoon-like space in which to sit, which responds to the occupants’ movements and hugs them as they lean back.
The wooden frame is made by traditional British craftsman who masterfully shape the walnut timber. The thick walnut legs are steam bent to follow the natural curve of the felt.
Felt is a high tech ecological material which comes from a low tech renewable source. The felt is made from high quality wool fibres which are mechanically pressed using heat, moisture and pressure. The outcome is long lasting, resistant against fire and moisture and acts as a natural insulator to noise.
The chair comes with a large round cushion. Baba Felt chair is now available to purchase directly from the studio.

In my weaker moments when everything spirals out of control, I plan for my death in painstaking details.
Lately it has been the act of throwing myself off a building. I often wonder how I would feel right before the jump. Would I panic, with a chilling realisation that I've truly destroyed myself and it's no longer salvageable? Would I feel free? Would I finally find the freedom that I've always wanted but never allowed myself to have? Or would I just cry, anticipating the pain from the pressure on my lungs or the crunch of my skull?
Of the few times that I weighed my options and considered the consequences carefully, two moments stood out to me.
The first, a dear friend didn't pick up my call (she was ill), and all I thought about was how it would tear her apart the next day if I did that then. I couldn't and I shouldn't.
The second, a lady boss walked into me while I was imagining what would happen after my body hits the floor, smiled brightly and said, "don't jump! It's not that bad."
And you know what? It really isn't that bad.

Call me crazy, but I believe that changing and improving your life requires destroying a part of yourself and replacing it with a newer, better part of yourself. It is therefore, by definition, a painful process full of resistance and anxiety. You can’t grow muscle without challenging it with greater weight. You can’t build emotional resilience without forging through hardship and loss. And you can’t build a better mind without challenging your own beliefs and assumptions. So why would we ever expect that becoming a better person is easy or pleasant or…positive?

As time goes on, you’ll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn’t, doesn’t. Time solves most things. And what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself.

It doesn't take much to hide behind your devices, to criticise, to think of what you could do that isn't like what was done. Truth is, nothing was done by you. At least someone is making some effort, to do the best that can be done within possibilities. Let's not even think of making the world a better place - we are pretty much fucked for that. Let's just put in a tiny bit more effort to make ourselves and people around us a little better. Recognise the flaws, but applaud the little victories.
I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.
