What’s transpired in the past week…
Nightshift. Nightshift.co also shut down. NS was popularly used on the west coast of the US as a free/low cost platform for advertising. This has affected many providers, regardless of price category. “High-end” providers advertised there as well.
ProtonMail. Most providers (on Twitter) have switched to encrypted email, widely to ProtonMail, and chose the .ch TLD (top-level domain) over .com, as .com domains can be affected by the SESTA/FOSTA bill. However, it is important to know that certain advertising platforms (none that are commonly known or widely used) cannot conceal your real name when using a .ch domain name. It’s nothing to stress over, only to keep in mind.
(And I would keep your regular gmail account as well. If you email an encrypted email from a non-encrypted email, it’ll send an error message basically saying you need to create an encrypted email. Keep both until further transition is made.)
OnlyFans. OnlyFans platform has changed their policies. They now require you to upload a completed W9 Tax Form to continue to be able to receive payout.
Switter. A new platform that any provider should get on is “switter.at”. It’s in preparation just in case Twitter starts closing accounts. So far, many have joined, and are happy with the results. It takes time to get the ball moving, but another option has been provided.
Microsoft/Skype. Warning. Microsoft has rolled out a new update to censor “harmful” language due to the SESTA bill. To summarize, the new terms in regards to Skype, Xbox Live, and others include, but are not limited to: no swearing, no nudity, no porn, and nothing of the like. How? Keeping track of conversation logs and file transfers. This will be effective May 1, 2018. To all my cam girls who do private shows, it is time to look elsewhere.
Google. Google Drive has started deleting people’s porn and content related to sex work, as it is deemed “human trafficking”. Start to log your documents and files elsewhere.
Bill. “Where did the 90 days to January 1st thing come from?” Before documentation was released to the public to decipher what the bill actually entailed and how far its reach would be, it was assumed that the bill would be enacted 90 days after adjournment, as most are; most bills go into effect the following year on the first, hence, where the January 1st date came from. To clear up: the bill will be enacted when signed by the POTUS.
Eros. To clear up what I stated in the last post: certain banks—Bank of America, for example—and credit card companies—Capital One, for example—may flag your account due to purchases concerning sex work. That flagged transaction can result in cancellation of payment. Sudden cancellation of payment may result in your Eros account being flagged, suspended of terminated due to suspicious activity. ALSO, they can, will, and have terminated accounts for using a VPN while operating their website. A VPN creates a unique IP address for you, yes, but your “public” IP address may be shared with someone else in the world. LASTLY, they have changed their terms saying if your account is terminated, you are NOT entitled to a refund nor an explanation. You can also be banned for “vulgar” or “suggestive” language. Clean up your ad copy on there, keep it simple, and direct users to your website where you have free reign (sorta) on your language.
