my ideal life: i open a small secondhand bookshop in a small town with my wife. we live in the apartment above. we laugh a lot, and read to each other before bed. we adopt a cat that lives in the store and makes friends with the customers. we are all incredibly happy.

Wind in your hair. You’re letting it air dry. The cool air reaches your scalp. The wildflowers that pepper the ground surrounding you lift their faces to the sun. Each flower is delicate and unique. The one with freckles stands taller than the rest. There’s one with a stoop and an abundance of petals. Before you go back inside, to your wife, to your fresh bread, to your knitting, your fireplace, your pillows, you bid the flowers a gentle farewell.

this is great bc this mushroom is Cerioporus squamosus, most commonly known as Dryad’s Saddle which “derives from the mushroom’s shape; its brackets seem to be perfectly sized and positioned to form a little seat for a weary tree nymph (dryad)”
