I’m not sure if I’ve already posted this but-

So you know how water energizes Percy? It does the opposite for Leo, it mellows him way out. When he got sugar highs as a kid, his mom would put him in a kiddie pool until he could handle tools again. So one time after Gaea, the 7 are having a get together and decide to go swimming. In the hot tub, Leo is in between Hazel and Piper. Leo sits there, eyes drooping, until eventually he faceplants in the water. Everyone is shocked, except for Piper. She just hauls him up and leans him against Hazel. She explains water’s effect on him and everyone nods along, still kinda shocked. Leo eventually wakes up and everyone just makes sure he doesn’t faceplant again.

do you ever think about how the lightning thief was originally gonna be named "the son of poseidon" and rick changed it... and then he got the opportunity to do the same thing but Roman Pantheon and he Took The Chance

see the thing is it worked the second time where it wouldn’t have worked the first. The Lightning Thief is a fantastic title, because we spend the entire novel wondering who stole Zeus’ lightning bolt, trying to figure out what happens, and paints Percy as the lightning thief before we find out who really took it. it’s a great opener & creates a subtle mystery that joins Percy at the beginning of the book—who is the lightning thief? and who is he? it’s not the Son of Poseidon; he doesn’t know he’s the son of Poseidon, and neither do we, really. 

in the heroes of olympus rick opens right with The Lost Hero. immediately we’re thrown into wondering where Percy is—what happened to him? who is Jason? what’s going on? then we get the end of TLH, and we jump to the next book… The Son of Neptune.

this has significantly more impact than The Son of Poseidon. we love percy. we want him back. we just learned where he was. and then rick titles the next book The Son of Neptune, and we realize that’s who percy thinks he is—the son of Neptune, a Roman god, and not Greek. we realize that after figuring out what happened to percy, after going on this quest and learning about gaea, for the first time we are going to see percy again. it makes it a hundred times more exciting. and it makes the title work.

Magnus: Well, let me see. He stole a bicycle and rode it, not using his hands at any point, through Trafalgar Square. He attempted to climb Nelson's Column and fight with Nelson. Then I lost him for a brief period of time, and by the time I caught up with him, he had wandered into Hyde Park, waded into the Serpentine, spread his arms wide, and was shouting, "DUCKS, EMBRACE ME AS YOUR KING!"

Magnus: He also made inappropriate amorous advances to a startled grandmotherly sort selling flowers, an Irish wolfhound, an innocent hat standing in a dwelling he broke into, and myself. I will add that I do not believe his admiration for my person, dazzling though I am, to be sincere. He told me I was a beautiful, sparkling lady. Then he abruptly collapsed in the path of an oncoming train from Dover, and I decided it was well past time to take him home and place him in the bosom of his family.
