The sound of movement outside Marie’s door as she moved around the room caught her attention. It was hard to tell if the person outside would actually come in or if they were simply pacing the hallway.

Quickly Marie put on her kind teacher mask, smiling with a raised eyebrow as she looked into the hall. It was true she wasn’t sure who to expect, but all the same it was best to maintain her happy appearance. Her focus landing on the other did she give a small wave in greeting.

“Hi there! Is there anything you need today?”

Marie is a fast learner when it comes to technology. It’s a simple thing for her to wrap her head around, having been around it for so long and spending so much time around it. She actually will look forward to new things once they come out, but mainly from a distance until the units become cheaper.

She’s not the kind of person to obsess over details like specks or most details others will overlook, but that doesn’t mean she has no idea what they mean either. Sure this doesn’t come up often, as other staff members or even students can troubleshoot the issues when needed, but if asked for advice Marie will be all too happy to help out.

#784392 keeps things professional, not wanting feelings to get in the way of any work, for both those she has on her List and colleagues. While she may warm up to a rare few, she doesn’t let it be shown often and will continue to wear a professional mask around others.

One way to know if someone may start seeing her more casual side is if she tells the other her real first name. This means she not only feels comfortable with the person in question, it means she’s willing to put her guard down a bit around them.

This is one of a few ways she will show she’s willing to be less professional. Sure her main Dispatch has more information on her and can look at her name if needed, but that doesn’t get shared with other Dispatch locations as only her number and other info is required.

Once Marie builds a strong enough relationship with someone ( student, friend, partner, anything like that ) she becomes invested in them. It’s part of why she takes the loss ( or thought of loss ) of anyone so hard. When Kilik and Ox went in after Maka, Kidd, and Black Star during the battle for Brew, this is part of why she was so torn in letting them go, even knowing her time inside the magnetic field was up.

She also doesn’t like giving up on people, knowing that there’s always another chance and that things can be different. Yet she doesn’t let that blind her, and will still be aware of what’s actually going on and what risks may arise from giving a second chance.

While invested to most, she still remains analytical and open minded to situations as they arise.

In spite of her size ( ~5′2″ / 157.5cm without heels and almost 5′4″ / 162.5cm with them ) Marie can both carry a lot of weight ( ~200lbs / 91kg, give or take ) and deliver a ton of power in any punch ( with or without partly transforming herself ). She actually will prefer when people underestimate her, knowing that it will be easy to put them in their place with relative ease; yet she won’t hold back in such a case, wanting to teach them a lesson for simply looking down on someone like her for stature or size.

Poisons, specifically poisonous plants, are something that Marie has looked into a bit. She doesn’t talk about them often, instead keeping that knowledge to herself and not thinking much of it if that topic shows up. If someone walks with her and she notices the other reaching for a deadly plant she will stop them and tell them to leave it alone.

This also can lead into more odd conversations should someone mention poisons around her. While she keeps a mask so often and won’t elaborate too much on certain things, if the conversation drifts to the topic she will give a bit of information.

Marie seldom takes pictures of herself, instead choosing to focus on other’s and capturing their happiness. She doesn’t mind her picture being taken by someone else, but things like selfies aren’t something she does much if ever.

She prefers being in the moment and following the energy of those around instead of focusing on herself. It simply makes the event more memorable, especially if someone takes pictures of Marie without her noticing.

In Marie’s Main verse, and in her Deserter verse, she has more of a looser and more kinda flowy style to her handwriting. It’s not too hard to read ( as it’s a sort of hybrid between cursive and print ) and is actually her favorite way to write things.

She uses more standard and uniform handwriting when doing work for any Dispatch she’s located in, not wanting to bring attention to herself while also just not having discovered the other style yet.

This also applies to when she was younger, as for a few years or so she kept things clean and neat to make sure people could recognize what was written, and slowly began to develop a more relaxed style after becoming comfortable in Death City in general.

Despite her patience most of the time, Marie can be somewhat short tempered. This was more evident when she was younger, and even still shines through at times, but she’s been working on not losing her cool and simply letting things go.

Marie was more self conscious when she was younger, hiding her cataract first, than covering up any new scars with longer clothes as needed, or with makeup if she wanted to wear anything shorter. It took a while to accept these ‘imperfections’ and not cover them up nearly as much. She started to accept them while taking care of Oceania, finding it harder and more annoying to keep covering them; the only thing she kept out of habit was her eyepatch.

Often Marie will forget about most of her scars, but will give some information if asked. While some details will be more vague ( depending on how personal the story is ) she more just thinks about what lead up to the event and what happened after. She’s not too fond of some of the stories, and will skirt around the topic with minor details before moving on.

Marie allows students to retake tests, along with giving them chances for extra credit at points in the year. To her the grade isn’t the biggest thing right away, it’s making sure she can understand what needs to be done and have the ability to learn about her students.

With Lord Death ( or Shinigami, kinda depends ) being more loose with certain aspects of school work ( most likely ) Marie will play into that and take the time to teach in her own way, while ensuring that everyone understands the material. She will also spend a bit working with Weapon’s and their Meister’s, wanting to help them practice moves and new techniques as needed before going into battle against a Kishin Egg ( at least somewhat ) so that they can be more prepared in the field.

Marie is a morning person and will do stretches most days. While she may miss some days due to her mental health being not the best at times, she will always try and get back into that rhythm, wanting to have more energy after waking. She’s quiet when doing so, not wanting to disturb anyone and knowing not everyone wants to deal with a morning person.

After finding out Marie was a Weapon at a kind of early age ( about 6 or 7 years old ) she spent some time with her mother’s family. Her uncle named Ove taught her some of the basics of being a Weapon, as he’s able to take the form of Skofnung. While Ove wasn’t able to show Marie his Weapon form ( due to not being able to transform around girls/women, as per the legend ) he was able to at least help her gain some control over transforming herself.

Marie would only see Ove once in a while, as he would be off on jobs most of the time. Yet when the two were together they would spend a while practicing and learning about the other’s form. Even if Marie was never able to see her uncle transformed, she always looked up to him. How he was kind yet firm, willing to let her fail and learn without judgement, and how he could make her smile so easily. Those are what made her love him so much over the years before she went to Nevada and was enrolled into Shibusen.

Any warm drink will make Marie happy, as they all bring a sense of comfort to her. If anyone she knows gives her a drink than she will relax some, being happy with the drink and offering anything she has around ( snacks, drinks, a seat, etc ) in exchange for the cup.

Marie enjoys sewing and knitting, and as such may make a plush for those she cares about ( students can get something on their birthday or a holiday as seen fit; while teachers may get something just as rarely ). No matter who she makes the item for ( as they will always be spaced out and seemingly random ) it will tie into at least one interest for them.

Ylva Marie Mjolnir is her full name in all verses. In her Black Butler verse she goes by Ylva to an extent, wanting to retain more of her past while in Dispatch. She prefers being called by her number of #784392 more, yet if comfortable and in a Dispatch she knows well may request to be called ‘Ylva’. Once she leaves Dispatch however ‘Marie’ becomes the more common name, wanting to draw less attention to herself and ‘blend in’ a bit with the humans around a bit more.

Part of the reason she took up a job in a library is due to the lights being somewhat dimmer at times, helping her to more easily hide the abnormal green color of her eyes. While she wears glasses more often than not in this time period, there will be stretches where she will take them off ( or lose them ) and pretend that she’s still somewhat younger before everything went crazy for her. It’s a small thing, but when seen without her glasses as a Deserter, it means she’s a bit more calm and comfortable in an area.

Marie enjoyed growing up an only child, as that allowed her to do a lot of things in peace. She made a bit of friends where she lived and would spend time with them often, yet if she ever needed time to herself it was understood among her friends and family that she would be back out the next day or two.

She’s always been rather personable around those she can find common interest with, but with those she can’t find a shared interest she will be more inclined to be reserved and quiet for a while.
