He couldn’t tell if she’d actually figured it out, or if she was just guessing and frustrated that he wasn’t budging. He knew they were on the same side, knew from her subconscious that the two of them could work towards a similar agenda, but it was hard to cave when he was so upset at what she’d just done to him. He couldn’t be on the same side as and trust someone that would just use him like that. “We’re even then,” he said, taking a step away from the wall, though he still felt completely drained. “You don’t take from me again without permission and I’ll do the same,” he said, keeping it vague so that if she knew what he’d done, what his ability was, then she’d understand.
