Matters and magic play with their body and mind. In addition, boys are future, or may be actual, experts of Transfiguration, and they suit always slightly changing, unstable faces. I like when something wild and grasping appears in Gellert, despite his young years. He becomes more restrained and stiff as a predator. The same confusion and restless power show through Albus’ calm. His bright eyes mirror that. Generally, they both are active and diligent followers magic. They surrounded themselves with notes and comprehend the practical part of the experiments now. I like the way their gazes entwine together. Albus’ bright iris and Gellert’s dark pupil become something common, focusing everything else around them. Their strange eyes are windows on the other side of reality) This is a world when disappears habitual understanding. This is a world that leads beyond the known feelings of body and soul. Magic is like nature or like the ocean there may be so different. Beautiful, scary, various… I love their bold journey through this unexplored space. Their business is to challenge not only the liver, but common sense at times))

As mentioned yesterday, I wanted to make a small comment on their appearences, because it’s the very reason I drew this piece. We have somewhat varying descriptions of all the Dumbledores, but the one who struck me the most was Kendra’s: “The mother, Kendra, had jet black hair pulled into a high bun. Her face had a carved quality about it. Harry thought of photos of Native Americans he’d seen”. Of course, we can’t know if Harry was accurate in his guess, and I find it hard to believe that J.K. Rowling might have imagined them as a biracial family in first place.

I did find it interesting, and it would have been an amazing possibility for a major character such as Albus, and wanted to develop the idea in a drawing. All the same, his physical description is pretty strong, so I went for more light-skinned children, trying to stick to the book’s appareancese and make it work: Albus generally looking more like Percival plus some of his mother’s traits, piercing blue eyes for all the kids, a more olive/light brown skin tone… Anyway, I diverge.

In general, it’s a nice possibility, very different from most of the other characters in the series, and expands the world of Harry Potter beyond Europe.
