Leah Richmond Cooper is an artist and writer who works primarily in sumi-ink & encaustic. Her first novel, Ukiyo, is an existential exploration of simultaneous anonymity and exposure, set in Tokyo. Born in Germany to a British artist father & American nurse-extraordinaire mother, Leah & her brother Douglas were brought up in Australia, then high-schooled in San Antonio, Texas. After gaining her BA in Japanese Studies from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana & Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan, Leah spent ten years in Boston, Massachusetts. As of 2010 she moved across the U.S. to become a resident of Los Angeles, California. Just as the name dendria suggests, Leah identifies closely with the concept of dendrites and their structure. She believes that in each moment our energy is concentrated or centered in that location of time-space. As we move to the next moment and then the next, we create a pattern-structure, very much like those of dendrites. As a result, there is no "evolution" or "improvement" but an endless, progression into simultaneous simplicity and complexity. Leah also loves gardening, cooking, K & J dramas, healing stones, yoga, running, meditation and strives to live in gratefulness every day . Want more? Hit up her website.
