Metering 🔘 I've learned to approach it in a similar manner as I edit audio when panning left or right, to place emphasis on where the sound projects. With stills; just like audio you have to plot points so you can know where you want the image to sharpen, but instead of rising or dropping levels, one must adjust their focus ring to the get desired effect. It all boils down to having the eye to know what you want, but I find having the subject in the foreground soft while the one in the back is sharp requires a bit of skill *in my opinion* 😉👥 (at Brooklyn Bridge)
