It didn’t take the Wocky’s long to trace her scent, the smell becoming thick with fear as it washed through the air, leading them to the warehouse that she’d been taken. In order to keep one of their species from following a scent one needed a particular plant in wonderland to put on the person they where trying to keep from the giant beasts. A fact known by very few as they silently ghosted through the skies, spiraling down from above and changing into their mortal forms a few feet from roof.
Dropping to the hard concrete as light as a feather they moved as one, not needing to check with the others what the plan was as Jaeden tracked Lennox’s scent. Not a pause given as they reached the first door, Valerian’s magic opening it silently as they passed through like wraiths, finding their first victims. Ones that they didn’t even paused to deal with, Jaeden and Jacan unleashing their full power upon the two men, causing them to die before the first scream of terror could fall from their lips. Devouring their fear in one glance that stopped their hearts.
Slipping through into the main building of the warehouse they came to a stop, finding a group of twenty men before them. A group that had been playing cards and joking around that now lept to their feet, calling for the people in the room behind them to alert them that they’d been found. Unknowing that Valerian cast a silencing spell upon the room the moment he’d stepped into it. He preferred his families magic over the normal kind, but had taken the time to learn a few spells that could be of used, such as that particular one.
Stepping forward, Dravan’s head tipping to the side he mused. “Now which one of you is going to tell me where she is.” His power washed over the men, causing all of them to raise their hands towards the door behind them, pointing. “Lovely.” Moving forward with slow easy steps he didn’t flinch as the men before him began to attack and found themselves suddenly faced with his brothers.
Valerian all but unleashing his true power upon them flying past his brother in a sprint. The first two that charged him died in a matter of seconds, screaming as their blood boiled in their heads until it exploded, brain matter and blood showering the room. The executioner flying past them before their bodies had hit the floor, his war ax drawn as he dove into the group, carving a path through them for Dravan.
Jacan and Jaeden both turning to the rest that Valerian didn’t get to, unleashing their powers, not even bothering to remove their hands from their pockets as the allowed wave after wave emanate from them. Waves of fresh fear that dove into the minds of those before them, bringing their greatest terrors to life in their minds eye. Bringing six men each to their knees in screaming terror, taking their time to torture them and eat their fill as the other two made their way to the door.
A door that gave way to Valerian’s power as Dravan stepped into the room, not once having to pause in his walk from one side of the warehouse. Behind him showed a sight from nightmares. Grown men screaming and writhing on the ground before the Jabberwockys, a ground covered in the severed heads and exploded flesh of those that had met the executioner.
A dark smile spread over Dravan’s lips, eyes past recognizing to those that hadn’t known him back on the Isle as he purred. “No body move.” His power washing over the men before him, causing them all to freeze in place, before his head tipped to the side. His eyes where almost black now, devoid of any light or warmth, filled entirely with the dark madness that he hid so well. Before them wasn’t the boy he’d become after meeting Lennox, but the one he’d been before her. The son of the Knave of Hearts who had bathed in blood upon the Isle and come up with the most creative punishments for those that his mother sent him to kill and make an example of. Eyes that landed upon her for a moment, that ray of sunshine that was now clearly in pain and frightened, before shifting to the male closest to her. “What where you planning to do with her?”
Behind him Valerian moved past him to Lennox’s side, opening his arms to her, a soft look upon face telling her that he was going to pick her up. “Your safe now Lennox, but I need to get you out of here before he snaps.”
It was only when she heard the commotion coming from elsewhere in the warehouse that Lennox recognized the source of the earlier roar. “He’s coming,” she whispered to herself, catching the attention of her captor. Shrinking back into the chair as best she could as he stepped back towards her, a soft whine of fear slipped past her lips. A sound that earned a cold chuckle from the man, albeit one that was short lived as he grew serious. A snap of his fingers and his team was readying themselves for a fight.
“Who’s coming, princess?” The way he hissed her title made it sound like an insult. The cruel sneer that followed had her squeezing her eyes shut and trying to turn away from him. “You will look at me when I’m talking to you!” Lennox cried out, skin red and stinging from where his palm had connected with her face. She hadn’t even seen it coming. “Do you think you’re better than me because of where you were born? Because of who your parents are?” She sensed a third question, but the man never had the chance to ask it as the door was thrown wide open and nearly off its hinges.
“Dravan...” The relief and joy she felt at seeing him overwhelmed her momentarily, flooding the utterance of his name. But upon further inspection, there was a darkness to the boy she’d never seen before. Yes, this was Dravan, but not as she knew him. No, this was Dravan of the Isle. She didn’t even have time to process the sight before Valerian had dropped in beside her, causing her to flinch away before recognizing him too. “No. No, I won’t leave him.” It wasn’t the smartest choice given her weakened state, but her voice was resolute.
