Strictly Business [King and Rem]
slothful-king-harlequin:
βWhat?β King wanted to laugh-the kid was apologizing. Shouldnβt have been funny, but with the nature of why he was complaining, it was a tad comical. Just a little.
βNo, none of the meetings have been beenβ¦ inconvenient. At all. Mostly because Iβve never had to directly interact with your father.β He decided to be blunt. Stirring the tea, he took little time to contemplate his words before speaking again.Β βYour father is the most entitled man I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. If he wasnβt a businessman I would accuse him of stalking me. No offense to you, all offense to your father.β
Then he sighed, as if this was a mild inconvenience, instead of complaining against a large companies CEO.
βIn any case, hereβs your tea. Sorry for complaining about your father.β He set Remβs tea in front of him, then returned to his own seat. βLetβs get on to business.β
β  €¸¸.β’´¯`β’ΒΈΒΈ.β’.. γ Rem listened to his words intently. It was clear that the fellow businessman harbored reservation towards the current Arlond Industries CEO, his father, with how he put his thoughts into words. There was a soft clink audible in the otherwise silent room before the shorter man continued to speak, but Rem kept his eyes on the elaborate design of the teapot as he followed every spoken word. What he heard matched the gossip he had caught other colleagues say about his father, complaints about his fatherβs way of handling matters in the business and his general demeanor towards others.
Β Β Β Not that he could blame them, really. Throughout the years of having to deal with him, such thoughts had crossed his mind as well. Yet, even as that was the case, he could not accept the statements as easily as he wished. Of course, being the professional worker he was, he would never let the others know of it. Instead, the features of the blonde remained straight and carefully masked while he occasionally nodded, showing his opposite that he was still following the conversation.
After the CEO before him seemed to have found an end to his reproachful words regarding his father, he placed a cup of tea with a small apology on the table in front of him.Β βRest assured,β Rem finally interrupted his own silence in a steady voice,Β βno offense was taken.β Directing his gaze from the cup to the eyes of the other, he added more seriously,Β βin any case, I do feel like I have to take some responsibility for those disrespectful actions since I am part of Arlond Industries as well.β
Β Β Β Pausing to take a sip from the cup, he appreciated the warmth and gentle taste of the tea greatly. It surprised him as much as it pleased him to have met a CEO who was so well-versed in things like this. If it had been him, he would have simply ordered someone else to prepare the tea--Perhaps, it was time for him to broaden his horizon in those aspects, too, if just to look more appealing to potential partners.
βIn that regard, please allow me to make a suggestion,β the young adult picked up where he left off once the teacup was elegantly put back on the table.Β βIt concerns business too, so Iβm positive it will prove itself worthwhile.β In leisure motions, Rem pulled out a few papers from the binder he had been carrying around and asked,Β βlarge parts of the old town district are directly involved with King Corporation, no?β γ
