Compulsory Question 2:
Discussing the matter of what I have gathered during Week 4 & 5, as I went to the Singapore Art Museum, I do love the explorations of different art pieces as they have been put together but it brings out an idea of what to change whenever I need to improve on my artwork.
During Week 10 of what I’ve intended to do as what I wanted to be in the next 5 years, I have a list of options of who I really want to be. My first two choices are to be either a Character Designer, 2D Concept Artist or a Voice Actor. I have a passion for drawing and always keep drawing for fun. However, once I’ve seen to seize the opportunity to take my strengths and turn them to master the skill.
Being a Character Designer and 2D Concept Artist requires analysis of what is the world and character’s traits and appearances that needs to be built and understanding the drawing fundamentals to portray one’s character’s personality but my other strength that relates to this is to create that it fits my style. Stylized and Expressive. It brings me a sense to change up the consistency during Illustration and Studio because of how my work portrays that is leaned to more of drawing out maximalism and character.
At the moment I have written down my desire to be a Voice Actor, it’s also my other skill. It’s where you have to perform a character that is given and for the personality, you need to find the right voice that fits in for the role. Just like what we wanted to express ourselves to portray a character.
But then I realised, I haven’t written down about wanting to be a Video Editor. It is also my other skill that I love to explore and experiment through creating your own transitions and filters. During my Design Skills, creating a Storyboard does seem different than the ones I’ve used to study during my Animation course.
Of my classmate’s comments about my choices, they wanted me to push my strengths to make it a success. And as for finding the company of which I’m most interested and comfortable to work with, it will take some time but I’m more focused on finding the most supportive and understanding on what they wanted a design to look like, based on their key points and style.
Overall, I do enjoy studying Design Skills but Illustration is giving me a sense of new beginnings to try out a new style as I wanted to express my artwork to other classmates. For Materiality & Techniques and Studio, there’s some parts that need to be improved, which is my Typography.
