“I was born and raised in Bogotá, so I guess I am.” She giggled, Gab didn’t know that there was someone else from Columbia here and the fact that Courtney was Brazilian it was the closest she was going to get in here. “Where do you live? It’d be nice to go home with someone who’s been in LG. Well your definitely gonna have to come around for dinner my mom wouldn’t have it any other way.” Maybe they could support each other with the shift back to normality. “Well no time like the present
“Really? I’ve been there a few times but it’s been so long ago.” She mused as she recalled the happy times she had with her family there. “My family lives in Medellin most of the year and then they travel to São Paulo for a couple of months a year... at least I hope they still do,” she said with a grin on her face. “I’d love that! Going back home sounds good but at the same time it scares me to death.” She admitted. “Please just don’t laugh if I fall.” Court chuckled.

A warm smile spread across her face when the Courtney mentioned going back home. “I can’t wait to see my family back in Columbia, I’m sure my young cousin have grown a lot since I saw them last.” She thought as they got close to the lake. “I forgot to ask can you skate? I can help you if not.”
At the mention of Columbia Courtney came to a screeching halt. “You’re from Columbia?” She asked wide-eyed. “I lived there before coming here, my parents still live there. We moved there from Brazil when I was four and we used to travel back and forth.” Courtney explained and let out a giggle when she realized just how much she was sharing with the girl. “I can skate... some. I haven’t done it in a while though.”

Gabriella was very much a touch oriented person so she didn’t think about letting the others hand go and continue to pull them along with her “Exactly we don’t have much time left so we might as well take every chance we have to enjoy this place.” Even though leaving this place wasn’t her choice it was Valentinas
Because of the touch, it was easier for Courtney to feel the girl’s power, but she didn’t quite understand it and instead of wasting time trying to decipher it, she concentrated on just enjoying the moment. “It’s going to be weird to leave this place and go back home.” She mused as the pair continued to walk towards the lake.
“Oh come on, how many times a year can we ice skate on the lake?” Gabriella did have strong feelings for Christmas but the cold weather, she loved that “oh stop being a grinch and come skate with me.” She pulled on the other hand “no Christmas songs I promise.”
Courtney looked up at the girl and let out a sigh. “I’m not a grinch” she mumbled before finally standing up and following the girl out to the lake. “I guess that if we really are leaving this place then this will be one of the last times we will be able to do this.”

It broke Summer’s heart that Courtney felt that way. Summer was not one to judge anyone, especially not a close friend. She held her friend’s hand in hers, brushing her thumb against Courtney’s soft skin. “I would never change my mind on that, Court.” Summer insisted. “I’m here for you no matter what. I would never judge you, or think bad about you.” She continued to explain to Courtney. “That’s what friends are for.” Summer offered her friend a small smile.
Would she still feel the same way if she knew the whole story? Court pulled her hand away and sat up so that she was at eye level with her friend. “What if one of those friends has been keeping something from the other?” She asked fiddling with her fingers as she locked eyes with her friend. “Have you ever needed something that deep down you knew was bad for you or that you didn’t deserve? Because that’s how I feel about Landon. He was not the best boyfriend... not by a long shot and yet, I can’t help but miss him.”

Summer nodded and smiled. She knew that she had gotten lucky. After Max had left her all of those years ago, she never thought she’d get to be that happy anymore. Sure, she had tried to date other people, but it didn’t get far. It just hadn’t been the same. But now they were back together. Even if things in the town were still tense, at least they had each other.
She pressed her lips together into a thin line as she paid attention to her friend. She was avoiding eye contact and Summer could tell Courtney wasn’t okay. She took a step towards her friend and placed a hand over the girl’s free hand. “You know I’m here if you need to talk about anything, right?” Summer’s voice was gentle as she squeezed Courtney’s hand. “You’re not going through any of this alone. I’m here.” She didn’t liked to see her friends cry and she hoped that Courtney would at least let Summer be there to support her.
If there was one thing that Courtney knew, it was that she could always count on Summer, she knew that the time traveler would always be there for her even when Courtney did everything in her power to push her away. And it wasn’t that she intentionally pushed her away, Court simply wasn’t completely honest with Summer, or anyone else for that matter.
“I know... but I feel like if you knew what was really going on with me, you might not feel the same way,” her eyes stayed fixed on the hard surface, it was best if she didn’t look up at her friend or the few tears that she was shedding would turn to a river of tears. It was taking Courtney a lot of time and effort to realize that what Landon had done to her had not been her fault, but she struggled with feeling some guilt over their relationship and break up.
At this point there was nothing that could distract her from playing, Katherine had given her entire day for practice, and she focused her every fiber on perfecting Gymnopédies by Satie. Her fingers gently moved upon the keys, her lids fluttered shut, her frame moving ever so slightly, until the moment she forgot the notes to the next part. Hesitantly opening her eyes, she sighed under her breath and moved away from the piano, “What’s wrong with me today?” She shook her head, as she begun digging through her backpack for the notes, “Perfect…Dude, you’re an idiot.” She talked to herself, as she realized the notes were not where she last left them.
One of the buildings still standing was the “Arts” building, it was where the dance studio was and where you could go and practice an instrument. If they were going to be kicked out of Lake Grimstone then Court wanted to take advantage of all the town still had to offer which was why she was walking the halls of the “Arts” building trying to find something that she could learn to play or at least to just kill time. It was as she walked by one of the rooms that she spotted someone that looked rather exasperated. “Are you okay?”
On a normal day, Liam would be at football practice, throwing around the football and learning new plays. But since he wasn’t at college, he couldn’t do that. Instead, he took the football out to the empty field near down and began throwing it with himself, and his power. He spun the ball in his hand, gripped it, not too tightly, and then threw it as hard as he could. He pulled gravity away from the ball, forcing it to slow down, and then he used it to throw it back to himself.
He glanced over his shoulder at the person coming up behind him. “Cool trick, huh?” He smirked as he turned, gripped the ball in his hand, and then threw it. “Heads up!” He warned the person.
It seemed like everyone was on edge and Courtney was not the exception. It seemed like all anyone could talk about was of the serial killer in Lake Grimstone and while she wanted to stay informed, Court didn’t want to live her life in fear. She was extra careful and her power seemed to be in full alert now which was why it was so easy for her to find her boyfriend.
“It was a cool trick the first time you did it to show off in school,” She said with a giggle. The ball came towards her and she caught it. A smile spread across her face as she walked closer to Liam. “Perks of being a football player’s girlfriend.” She said holding the ball up to show that she had caught it which she might have not been able to do had he not taught her. “Missing the game?”

“It was, wasn’t it?” Summer said with a smile as she remembered the proposal that Max had done for her. It was sweet and romantic and she was happy that all of her friends and family were there to experience it with her. “Yes, exactly.” Summer said with a smile. She missed her friend dearly and sometimes she got a little too caught up in the romance with Max to get away and hang out with her. But Summer was going to make sure that she spent more time with Courtney.
She tilted her head to the side as she listened to Courtney speak. “I know that feeling.” Summer said in a low voice. She did it a little too often now, especially with what had been happening around town. “You know I’m here if you ever want to talk about anything, right?” Summer’s eyes met her friend’s. “I will never judge. I’m always here for you, even if we don’t hang out every single day.”
“You got a good one, Summer, you and Max are some of the lucky ones.” Court said with a smile though her tone was laced with a bit of jealousy. Her friend had found her happiness with her first love and yet Courtney didn’t believe that she would ever have that.
Courtney crossed her arms against the countertop and leaned forward to rest her chin against her hands. Brown eyes stayed on the smooth countertop and she nodded gently. “I know,” she said softly. “I just... sometimes it’s too much you know? Like everything that happened with TRP and... then things with Landon. Why can’t I be happy?” she asked as she moved her hand to wipe away a tear.

“Hm, pizza sounds so good.” Summer let out a groan as she let Courtney take the cake from her hands. She reciprocated the hug, wrapping her arms around her friend’s waist, hugging her tightly. “I’ve been good!” Summer said with a wide smile. The takeover had messed her up but with Max’s proposal, and her focusing more on her art, she was getting better. “And what about you?” Summer asked as she finally pulled away from her friend. “I’m sorry I’ve been so busy. But I’ve come to make a proposition. We should hang out at least once a week. I hate not seeing you for long periods of time.”

Court was thrilled that her friend had found happiness and honestly, Summer and Max were made for each other. “I like this idea! No matter what happens we will put aside one day to catch up.” She said still smiling. But her smile faltered when she thought about Summer’s question. The girl let out a sigh and shrugged. “I’ve been better..." her brown eyes looked down at the counter and she tried to put on a smile but couldn’t bring herself to do it. “Putting a smile on when you don’t feel like smiling... it gets tiring,” Court admitted to her friend.

Hunter could be repulsive, grotesque with his response, he could be his usual self. But after reading that letter over and over again he was going to do things he loved, filled him with passion, be the Hunter that he loved “it’s just a letter from my cousin, she left it before she w at home” Hunter explained. “The Lake? Sure! I mean I haven’t dived off the cliff in a while.”
“That’s sweet,” Courtney replied with a huge smile on her face. “It seems like it brings you much joy,” she added. It was nice when families got along, it made her happy to know that people got along. “Really? Is it bad that I’ve never done it?” She asked. She had always been scared to do it but after everything that she had been through in the last few years, she really wanted to change the way she did things.

With everything that had happened over the recent months, and now her recent engagement, Summer hadn’t been able to hang out with Courtney as much as she’d like. So, as an apology, Summer made Courtney’s favorite cake and was bringing it over to her house for a sleepover.
She pranced up the front steps and moved towards her friends front door. She rose her free hand and knocked on the door before opening it slowly. “It was unlocked so I’m coming in!” Summer said gleefully as she moved through the threshold and closed the door behind her. “And I made you your favorite cake! I also ordered a bottle of wine to be delivered to your place in twenty minutes.”
Courtney could not remember the last time that she had hung out with Summer, sure she had been there for Summer’s and Max’s engagement but that didn’t technically count as hanging out. The power detector was anxious to spend time with her friend and have some normalcy back in her life. Luckily, her roommates were out and so Courtney and Summer had the place to themselves.
She heard the knock on the door but knew the door was unlocked. “In the kitchen” she called out to Summer when she heard her call out. “I was making pizza and red velvet cheesecake and wine will go perfect with it!” She chuckled. “Ugh, it’s so good to see you.” She rushed to her friend taking the cake and placing it on the counter before wrapping her arms around her. “How have you been?”
Ever since reading Jessica letter hasn’t let it go, he kept it on him so if he had a spare minute he reread it. It was like having her to keep him company, to remind him that there are other points of view then his own. Hunter hadn’t told anyone he had it never mind the fact that he hadn’t let go of it since he read it. That’s when Hunter hear footsteps and scrambled like a child hiding something he shouldn’t have as he put it in his pocket “sorry I got here early thought I’d do some light reading.” He lied he couldn’t remember if he had actually planned to do something with the other.
There was confusion written all over Courtney’s face, had she made plans with the guy and not remembered? Surely she would remember, right? Court figured she would make the most of it and smiled at Hunter. “Light reading? Anything interesting?” She asked as she walked closer towards the guy. “So... what should we do? Want to go to the lake?” She had no idea what Hunter liked doing so she was simply trying to find some common ground with him.
Training, training, training.
That was all Rosalie Moore had been doing the past few weeks. After the whole Family Week incident with her family and the farewell party, Rosalie’s powers had gone haywire and had a mind of their own. The woman was having a hard time controlling them. It was time to get back to disciplining herself and her powers. Everything will be fine, she encouraged herself while not letting anyone else know that she was indeed struggling with her own shadows. I have nothing to worry about. It’s happened before and I’ll be fine, I’m always fine….she continued to tell herself day after day, punch after punch. There was a reason why Rosalie had to leave her family behind in order to quite literally, stay alive. The shadow mimicker didn’t have to worry about dying until a surprise family member had paid her an unexpected visit.
Taking a deep breath, Rosalie’s fists tightened ready to punch the bag again and suddenly looked up at the person who had been kind enough to hold the bag in place. “Thanks….” She said with a tired smile and giving the bag another hard punch.
Family week had come and gone and now it was time for life to return to normal, whatever normal was. At the moment her time was being consumed by school and training the latter being what she needed to do more of which was why she was in the training facility at the moment. There wasn’t much training that she could do with her power, or at least she didn’t think there was, but she could at least train physically and hopefully be more helpful if the government ever decided to take Lake Grimstone back.
Courtney stumbled back a little when Rosalie hit the punching bag but she was quick to catch her footing. “Don’t mention it, I’m glad I could help and that you don’t mind having a newbie at this helping you.”
