Lost one of the biggest influences on my artistic life, Ken Kelly. He, along with Frank Frazetta, Boris, Basil Gogos, Bernie Wrightson, and HRGiger really had an equil impact on me. I remember my brothers and I sitting around a table seeing his art and trying to emulate it. My dad would bring home magazines and books with his art on the covers. Eerie, Creepy, and The Savage Sword of Conan magazines were a staple in our house and I believe it helped shape my brothers and my creativity. Sleep well Ken Kelly. I took some time to myself last night dwelling in my new perspective on life. Was thinking a lot about how different my life is now and who I have become in the last year. I am very thankful for the opportunities that have been given to me through change. My mind is clear. My health is far better than it ever has been. I feel more confident. Financial situation has improved. I am the person I want to be. Change can be hard at times but it can can be rewarding with the right attitude. I am very grateful for my friends and family who have been there for me even in my most neurotic times and kept me on track. I own this change now. When I drew this In 1985 I was a Freshman in High school. If I remember right I lost interest in finishing it because at that time anything that took over 12 hours to do felt like too long and I was ready for other things. Currently A full complicated 18"x24" traditional pencil illustration takes me approximately 40 hours to complete on the average.
