interpretation of Miramar complex, Rhodes
You are quite fortunate, it is quite a wonderful opportunity, the possession of leisure.
E.M. Forster, A Room with a View

Defining the modern traveller is a task much greater than someone could undertake. We chose to imagine hir as a person who would agree neither with Epicurus’ nor Aristotle’s ideals on living. As Camus (Albert) would phrase it ze travels far from hirs comfort sphere, deprived of hirs masks, completely on the surface of hirself, in order to redevise hirs inner structure. Ze travels to forget; to reconnect with people and places, to restore to every being and object its miraculous value.

By reintroducing the ephemeral to the concept of domicile, we created a space where cohabitation and personal retreat coexist; a device to devise, where one can sleep, relax, collect, exhibit, retreat… By subdividing the archetypical square plan in intertwined segments, we create a central living space, activated by the surrounding elements. This subdivision is realized by a steel framed grid which unifies the space through adaptable separation and overlapping of functions.

My ideal would be eight months’ travel and four months’ retreat.
