rene:
Rene recognized the voice. It belonged to one Devon Herline. If you asked him, he probably wouldn’t say they were friends, but she certainly trusted him–if her talking was any indication. He didn’t mind, though. He had always been very good at listening. “No,” he said. “I guess I am not in either camp. It’s okay being here. But you miss some things from home.” He shrugged. “Your summer?”
“That’s understandable.” Devon nodded as she twirled a strand of hair. She looked around their surroundings and then grinned as she returned her attention to Rene. “It was actually rather fun. Mum and dad took their vacation time and we went to the beach and I got to see the ocean for the first time. Have you ever been to the beach, Rene?”Â
talia‌:
The little display earned Devon an amused raise of Talia’s brow. When she was younger, she’d had similar slip-ups, even if the results had been vastly different.
“It happens”, she said, waving a hand dismissively. “Remaining in control 24 hours a day is tiring. We’re all bound to slip ups.”
“Honestly, I know you’re right but I feel like I shouldn’t be having them as often.” Sometimes she was a little tough on herself and then sighed as she set the glass aside. Devon tried to cheer up however, “At least I’m always capable of helping someone possibly make a slushie.” She tried to joke.Â
anthony:
Anthony was seated at the diner high top, nose buried in his book. Today he was in the world of The Alchemist, one of his all time favorite books. He gave a small smile as he continued to read through the passages. He was brought out of his own world when he noticed the girl next to him. He studied her every move and watch as she made the glass of water in her hand freeze completely. He cocked his head just slightly, continuing to stare at the glass. He began to speak, “Uh… does that happen often?”Â
Devon tapped the glass a couple of times and sighed to herself mostly. She wished she had the ability to unfreeze things but that evidently wasn’t the case. At least not yet. She heard the other’s voice and glanced over at him with a smile, “Unfortunately more often then I like it to but at least I wasn’t in the middle of drinking it because that’s even worse. I’ve gotten glasses stuck to my lips before.”Â
It wasn’t the first time it happened. She should have control by now, right? She should know how this works but Devon still had slip ups. She looked at the frozen glass of water in her hand and then set it down as the other gave her a puzzled look. “I guess now I wait.” She chuckled sheepishly.Â
rene:
Rene, as was typical for him, sat by the edge of the lake. He had his hood pulled up over his head, his knees to his chest, and his arms hugging his legs. The first day back was always a strange one. Everything was too soon and too far away all at once. “Which camp are you in?” He said out loud, sensing someone nearby. “The great-here-we-go-again one? Or the finally-we-get-to-come-back one?”
Devon had figured she’d find her friend here. The lake just seemed like a place where he’d take off to. She was trying to be quiet but apparently failed miserably. Devon didn’t pay too much mind and instead continued to walk over to him and take a seat besides him, “You know me. It’s the finally-we-get-to-come-back one.” She smiled as she gazed down into the water, “I’m assuming you’re the other?”
