-♛- Hector shifted the papers from one hand to the other he read over the gory details that had been provided regarding his new patient. Unlike his usual tired and slumped demeanor his body was stiff and straight, his eyes narrowed and focused as they trailed over every word, engraving it into this memory. The body had arrived early this morning and been moved to the top of his priorities which meant she would be here any minute now, and he knew better than to keep her waiting.

          “Interesting...Interesting. I’ll have to ask that before I make any incisions.”

          So engrossed with this work, he barely even noticed the door open. It was only the grunt that gave it away. Moments passed before he looked up with an almost childish grin spread over his face.

          ”Officer Solomon! This is truly fascinating stuff”

it’s  a  loud  party  that  he  finds  himself  in  ,  which  is  kind  of  a  surprise  to  anyone  who  might  know  him  well  .  he’s  not  really  a  party  person  ,  but  these  things  happen  ,  he  supposes  ,  and  he  might  as  well  just  let  it  happen  .  he’s  plenty  used  to  the  idea  of  the  inevitability  of  certain  events  happening  ,  but  he’s  only  curious  as  to  how  everything  in  his  life  up  to  right  now  has  conspired  in  such  a  way  that  it  pulled  him  into  ———  well  ,  he  thinks  it’s  a  bachelor  party  ,  but  the  bachelor’s  long  gone  …  so  he  supposes  it’s  just  a  party  now  .

maybe  he  shouldn’t  be  so  damn  easy  .  he’d  been  walking  home  from  his  usual  café  when  the  groom  -  to  -  be  spotted  him  ,  obviously  already  drunk  from  the  pregame  session  ,  and  started  raving  about  his  books  and  invited  him  on  a  whim  .  it’d  have  been  rude  to  decline  ,  so  he  said  he’d  go  and  now  ———

well  ,  now  he’s  here  .  he  tries  to  find  an  empty  seat  and  only  barely  manages  to  sight  one  .  the  thing  is  ,  as  he  gets  closer  ,  he  spots  that  the  table  is  already  occupied  .

taking  a  deep  breath  ,  he  decided  he  might  as  well  .    ❛    may  i  sit  ?    ❜    he  asks  ,  speaking  in  greek  ,  uncertain  if  the  man  is  a  stranger  or  a  local  but  deciding  he  might  as  well  stick  best  to  local  customs  anyway  .

-♛-  The voice cut through all of music and the eavesdropping. Tilting his head he looked up at the man. Raising a brow he gestured a hand to the stool opposite him and nodded his head. 

            “Go ahead.”

            His deep eyes suck to the mans face - Did he look familiar? He did, but somewhere between the alcohol and sleep deprivation he could not work out where he had seen him from. While his thoughts took over there was a moment of silence before he composed himself once more.

            ”Sorry, this is going to sound strange but do I know you? Your face looks incredibly familiar. Did you loose family recently?”

            Nicely done, bring up someones potentially dead family member.

stella was honestly a girl that liked to party. or at least used to. there were often times where she’d black out and those are not times she was proud of. she was honestly surprised that she graduated college. now she didn’t drink as much. she smoked weed with her friends but rarely went to drink. though today she decided she wanted to stop by and grab a quick drink before heading home.

she let out a deep breath through her nose as she effortlessly pulled open the door. it seemed rather crowded or at least most tables were full. fuck she muttered under her breath as she tried to look for a free seat. it was easier said than done. that is until a familiar shape came into view. her boss was sitting alone with plenty of open seats around him.

a small smirk curled at the corners of her lips. she planted herself on a stool near the man while he seemed to be distracted. “ i must admit that i’m surprised to see you here alone. ” she said raising an eyebrow at him as she spoke.

-♛- The voice roused him from his anxious trance and his dark eyes peered over the woman. Stella. His receptionist, probably the one person he didn’t want to see him here. He had an image to uphold and this didn’t line up to what he presented. Finally he took a sharp inhale and responded to her worlds.

              “I wasn’t here alone originally.” 

              Hector admitted, and leaned closer. The corners of his lips began to turn up; perhaps this wasn’t too bad. Though at some point the waitress had noticed him and put another glass in front of him with grace. Thank gods. Picking it up, he swirled the drink around before taking a sip.

              “What brings you here, Stella? Remember you have work in the morning.”

                 The words were a little cheeky, and the drink was returned to the table before resting his head on his hand.

-♛- How on earth had he managed to get himself into this situation. One of his old university friends had come to Litochoro to do some sight seeing and partying. Of course he had been dragged along despite his endless complaints and had wound up in a bar he thought he would never see the inside of. It had taken mere moments for said friend to get bored of his company and disappear off into the crowd to flirt with some girl.

              Around him there were plenty of men and women sitting at tables chattering away to each other. Music played loudly yet he could still manage to catch slithers of what they had been talking about - mostly it was flirting or show boating. It was an understatement to say he felt out of place, pushing himself into a corner booth to just watch the groups socialise and his friend? Well he figured he was long gone now.

                 A deep sigh was released as the glass was lifted to his lips. Maybe if he was drunk enough he would enjoy this. Or maybe he would just forget. Either way the drink vanished in mere moments before he looked up for the cocktail waitress.

“I adore museums. Broadening my knowledge excites me incredibly but in a slightly narcissistic sense I like learning about my…legacy and the humans that believed in me.”

“I don’t actively go out of my way to look at fashion but I do enjoy when I see finely made suits or beautiful gowns. People may not think it but I like dressing up and looking smart.”

“Once. I was just out of university and there was a woman a little older than me…I wrote it and threw it away immediately.”

“Yes. I know for a fact that they exists, I have many many memories of them.”

“Other than I suppose what is now called the Ancient Grecian period. The British Medieval period piques my interest. A strangely unique period of time where such a small country achieved some incredible things.”

“I don’t know if I have a favorite album but I remember being 15 and wanting the Backstreet boys album; Millennium. I’d like to say in the last 20 years my music taste has become a little more…refined.”

princess; have you ever been to disneyland? if so, favorite ride?

“I’ve never had anyone to take to Disneyland and I didn’t much fancy going alone.”

“I do have one, though I got it when I was in university so quite some time ago. Its the astrological symbol of Pluto and its on my left wrist. Clients tend to find it unprofessional so I usually cover it with long sleeves.”

Her eyes watched him as he spoke before, in her eyes, defiantly taking a final drag from his cigarette in an attempt to get his hit.

“Us.” Heidi echoes, punctuating the word with a curl of her fingers to crush the cigarette embers without so much as a flinch. When she opened her palm again, only fine dust remained which she simply turned over onto the ground for it to be swept away by the breeze.

Cheek of this man.

“But I do miss you” Her expression was unbarable fond.

“–and I am here for you. We said we would do breakfast and then we rescheduled for lunch and then dinner– Oh and then back to lunch.” With each iteration of their plans, she took out her phone, unlocked it and began looking for something; manicured nails tapping gently against the screen. A small silence followed– brief, enough for Heidi to suck in a soft inhale, an irritated sound following it.

Her phone screen was then pushed into his face: a calendar notif reading lunch with Hector followed by a puppy emoji and then the fire emoji.

-♛-  The smile faltered turning down at the corners into a dejected frown as the cigarette was completely destroyed and blown away into the cool breeze. And it only seemed to grow darker as she spoke of their plans being canceled over and over again. It isn’t till the phone is thrust towards his face that he finally speaks.

            “Oh...? That was...today?”

            Of course, he had completely forgotten.

            “Fine fine, lunch it is. Let me grab my glasses and jacket...I can never read that damn menu without them. I might need to send an email before we go-- Do you want to come in while I gather myself? Cerberus is inside..sleeping probably. He misses you too you know” 

               It seemed like he had loosened up a little bit, mentally sorting out his schedule to fit her in.

   “garish!” shey exclaimed, eyes brightening and their expression instantly transitioning into one of glee - as if a compliment of the highest regard had just been bestowed upon them. if the dark stranger had meant any negative meaning with the choice of description, it was entirely lost on the musician.

   expectantly, shey waited - though they didn’t require an apology or action to make up for the stumble, they certainly weren’t going to deny anything offered to them.

   “– coffee?” shey repeated, smile still happily in place on their pale face. “overrated. i tend to go for a drink in these situations - what is your poison? you caught me just as i was heading to my club - you’ve surely heard of it, the kosmos kradle? come, come!”

-♛-  They were certainly strange and this made Hector reluctant but the guilt overwhelmed him. Nodding his head he gestured a hand in front of himself, asking for them to lead the way. 

            “Heard of it, sure. I’ve never been. I don’t really do clubbing you see. But I guess I wont say no to whiskey.” 

            “I didn’t realise someone so young owned the place. You’re doing really well for yourself...Colour me impressed.” 

            He stops himself, reeling back from his normal business mode. Offering Shey a smile he decides it’s probably a good time to introduce himself.

            “My names Hector by the way.”

“ – I DON’T CARE. and apology accepted. “ november said as she took the cigarette from the small box and placed it between her PAINTED lips “ a smoke is a smoke in my book, wouldn’t you say ? “ she mused around the cigarette with a raised eyebrow as her manicured nails rummaged around her shoulder bag until they found a red enamel lighter. she flicked it on, lighting the cigarette and then taking a drag and exhaling the smoke – in the OPPOSITEdirection of the man who had given it to her.

dark eyes then focused on him once again, “ – so what made you so OUT of touch with realitythat you didn’t notice my presence ? “ november asked, a flirty SMIRK gracing her lips. “ after all you seemed awfully lost in thought. “

-♛-  Watching her light up was somewhat mesmerising and he found himself staring perhaps a little too much. The way she was presented - beauty, the red, the aesthetic was rather hypnotic after all. In an attempt to cover it up he raised a hand to rub at his chin and up to his lips before letting it fall to his side once more. 

            “I would love to tell you that it was something interesting but honestly it’s just work. Things got hectic and people weren’t were they needed to be. I have a feeling that I’m going to be apologising a lot tomorrow -- Like I said not really gripping stuff. I won’t bore you with all the details.”

            Pause and a sudden bought of curiosity.

            “Where were you off to at this time of the day? Were you waiting for someone?”

❛    could  have  fooled  me  ,    ❜    sonya  says  ,  an  almost  -  careful  shrug  punctuating  her  casual  observation  ,  icy  blue  eyes  following  the  motions  of  his  hands  as  he  extinguishes  his  cigarette  on  the  wall  behind  him  ,  leaving  behind  a  small  ,  blackened  imprint  on  the  plaster  .

his  words  draw  a  smile  from  her  ,  ruby  -  red  lips  quirking  in  an  upwards  curl  as  she  lazily  observes  him  from  where  she’s  standing  .    ❛    your  life  must  be  very  boring  if  this  is  already  a  scene  for  you  ,    ❜    she  says  glibly  .    ❛    we’re  just  two  strangers  having  a  conversation  ———  nothing  more  and  nothing  less  .    ❜

-♛- Frustration continued to swell in his chest but with great effort he did whatever he could to quell it. With his hands now free’d he folded them against his chest 

            “My life if none of your concern miss. Perhaps you should be evaluating your life if this is a normal conversation for you.”

           Pause and then a sigh. 

            “I honestly do not have the time or the effort for whatever this may or may not be. So unless you have any business with The Underworld Pallor I will have to make myself scarce.” 

            It was an obvious lie, a scapegoat so to speak. Hector just needed to get far far away from this.

Hector certainly has more inner beauty. Once you get past the crusty and grumpy exterior he has some really pure and kind ideologies for himself, but honestly he isn’t hugely beautiful in any conventional sense.

Robe - How do you prepare for an evening alone with a loved one/date?

Honestly he’d rather stay inside and spend an evening spoiling them by cooking dinner, giving them a bath and snuggling up and reading to them or watching a movie. Though if he had to go out it would be to a swanky restaurant where they could both get dressed up and he could show them off, while looking at them as if they were the only one in the room.
