🎊 heyo! welcome in, you've chanced upon my messy art blog -

- located in a cave nested in a mountain range past the deep dark forest within the wilds of the internet

🔮 i post once in a blue moon

since art is my hobby and comes out of my (limited) free time

🐊 wild card artist, art medium varies widely

in addition to 2D art, i dabble in animation, fanfic art, plush crafting, pngtuber streaming, blender 2.5D/3D, and game dev

📝 what i draw is a mix of original work and fanart

original works tend to feature my sona, tive + in july i participate in artfight and will stream art on twitch, drawing a variety of other people's ocs

fanart follows whatever catches my interest, though i do play genshin impact (rerir, flins, dainsleif, childe, enjou, etc) & follow ff7 (vincent valentine) and will intermittently revisit these [currently downbad brainrotting rerir,,,]

🩸 unpredictability aside, i tend towards themes of monsters/body horror & vibrant color/lighting

🧪 i like to approach body horror with a lens of beauty

🥽 & with a dont-let-dreams-be-dreams attitude, building up skills to make my passion project indie game real !

while a lot of the concept art/visual development/writing/game design i've been doing is unposted, i hope that i'll be able to finish this ambitious project someday and eventually share

Yk in community of my natives we seem to really like the idea of Rerir tearing Flins’ wings out. I’ve seen at least three fics like that. I know you’re the body horror artist but do you think that might be a tad bit too cruel—

I like to imagine flins' wings as made of flame! so they can't be grabbed, but flins can feel when something passes through

the wings are still sensitive so ah yes rerir, keep trying to grasp them. perhaps you'll get the angle right next time. and why not try using your teeth too?

as for whether ripping wings would be cruel, don't worry. it's a non-issue. as a horror director once said (paraphrased): you don't imagine stories where nice things happen to nice people who are all nice to each other. that'd be boring. you might want to live like way, but you don't create fiction like that. so if the idea intrigues you, enjoy what you enjoy✨

do you have any ideas what Rerir's internal system might look like? I know it was brought up a while ago but I'm curious how you specifically would depict it.

(I need to dissect that man. and Flins tbh. I doubt either of them has organs and I want to know what's in place of them)

i like to think rerir can keep his outward appearance human-like, but the inside is abyss soup! an ever shifting mishmash of impossible organs, limbs, eyes, etc

it's a sensory nightmare, but slightly better than the pain/hollowness of feeling every distant fragment scream in distress

What art software do you use? I really like the texture of your pieces, it feels oily-crayon-like, and really highlights your style. If you could, maybe you could give some tips for shading? I can never really get this ‘sense’ that some part needs to be darker, it always looks flat to me. I really adore your works and look forward to learning more from you!

and thank you✨ i'm a fan of traditional texture despite being entirely digital these days (real materials have gotten pricey + i don't have space to store them...)

as for shading, this is such a deep rabbit hole. i'll try my best

tip of the iceberg: all shadows are cast from a light source! you darken areas that face away from your chosen light direction. it sometimes helps to draw a little sun as a reminder to keep it consistent for the whole piece

iceberg waterline: there are different types of light sources. strong spotlights create shadows with crisp edges. soft diffuse light sources (like a lightbulb through a lampshade) create softer, more airbrushed shadows. choosing the right kind of light/shadow and keeping it consistent aids the gut instinct "feels right" of an art piece. your brain recognizes believable optics/light behavior even if you don't understand every part of it

underwater iceberg body: the material of your subject affects its shading. reflective metal will take on the look of its surroundings instead of being affected by the light source. translucent material like certain fabrics, skin, plastic can take on a glow under spotlighting (due to internal scattering). it takes time to build your visual library for various light/material combos, though whenever in doubt photo references are always the way to go!

iceberg depths: multiple light sources, colored light and mixing with each other /and/ subject material's innate color. working back from white light being a composite of the whole rainbow of colors

not everything i could say, but enough thoughts to give you the general idea of various levels on the way down the shading rabbit hole

ultimately, when you shade a piece of art you're trying to create the illusion of a 3D subject/space. and color/light form the foundation that will take you far no matter what kind of art style you go for

such is the knowledge that the old master painters cultivated. you can learn a lot by taking time to observe/notice your surroundings in real life: the way shadows cast blue outside on a clear day, the way the green color of the grass can bounce onto a nearby white sign under sunlight. life is rich with detail! and if you're not opposed to a little reading, Color and Light by James Gurney is a fantastic book that covers this in much more detail and breadth

hey hey- idk if it’s already been asked- but what’s your take on flins’ ears?

I like to think they're human shaped normally, but can appear differently if he wants to (or lets slip on accident)!

my preference for normal or slightly pointed ears means they don't readily show in my art (always hiding underneath flins' generously layered bangs ahaha)
