respect autistic kids instead of abusing them, and teach them healthy coping mechanisms that work for them and theyâll display less of that ~aggression~ Autism Parents seem to latch onto. I have always been incredibly conflict-avoidant, and IÂ only ever show(ed?) physical aggression when my boundaries are being crossed and I feel like I donât have the capability to get myself out of a situation reasonably otherwise, which is of course much more likely when I havenât been given the tools to know how to do that, or donât think the other person will respond to coping mechanisms I have developed (eg with my brother, where neither of us had been given the emotional tools to sort through disputes or to respect each othersâ boundaries)
like I swear, most of the âchallenging behavioursâ autistic kids show are likely a result of being abused and mistreated.
