Darkness Crawls and Suffer

Xasdraan. A child of Devinar (some could say “literally, but shh, spoilers xD), murderer, assassin, harbinger of death. If you cross his way, he’ll make sure to be the last person you’ll see in your life.  So yes, it’s more safe to see only his back (although not that safe).  Be careful when he’s calm. Do not approach if he’s angry.

It’s finally out!!

After a long time and a lot of work I’m proud to say that the first part of the first chapter is available to read at:

I’m thinking about a translation to English, but time is the biggest issue here and there’s a lot of text to translate and a lot of work to make it readable in different language.  But the whole project is growing and I’m happy. So now you can expect new chapters being added once in a while.  Enjoy and I hope all our polish readers will like it :).

The big, unwanted brake is finally over!

Sorry for being so inactive here for the past months, I was totally overwhelmed with personal stuff :( But finally, my life is coming back on track, so I’ll do my best to post here a bit more regularly.

Still it the verge of “I don’t have time for anything”. Seems that some serious update on this blog will take place somewhere in January. 

in the meantime - I’m giving you one of the first design of Deqatir, made almost 2 years ago. Dude hasn’t change in a bit, haha. But I’m glad I can be consistent with my drawing and not changing the style of the character that much through the years :). 

He lost his smile, tho, now he’s a bit more serious all the time ;)

this picture of Khalia I’m using for the page icon is actually the 2nd design made for her.  I kind of like it enough to consider merging this with the latest design.  I’m still dead in social media, forgive me...

Have this picture of the twins I made some time ago. It’s the kind of drawing that’s perfect for the stickers, so I’ll think about getting some probably ^^.

Yarden

Or to be exact - Yarden’zhah’varriv, but no one is calling him that anymore...

Yarden is an undead dragon, protector of the High Priest of Nathe Krylissa. Raised from the dead, after spending a thousands of years as a soul, looking to avenge his own death. The entity filled with rage and despair, but those feelings are useful for his new masters.  Yarden is quite young - he had less than 500 years when he died, so his short-temperedness gives him a lot of trouble. So they had to bind him with powerful spells, enchanted with the gold jewelry he’s wearing.

Xasdraan Paqvis

Biological father of the twins. Living in Underworld for more than a hundred years of his life, so he’s the most vhvx of them all.  One of the greatest assassins of all times. Back in his youth, he belong to the greatest family of warriors in all the Underworld, where he learned everything about how to fight, kill and never been beaten.  Very grumpy and very serious. He has no mercy for anyone who stands in his way (even his own children).  Same as Yatchir - he served in the Temple of Devinar back in days, where he work his way almost to the top, having the high position among the priests - the most devoted followers of their God.  After some unfortunate events in his life, Xasdraan was forced to stay on the Surface, where he met the future members of his current family (who was a group of mercenaries then) and decided to travel with them, gain their loyalty (and vice versa) and, at the end, help with building the root of a new family.  Since then, Xasdraan has the position of the advisor, teacher and a guardian of the Paqvis’ family. He’s still not fully used to living on the Surface, so he’s trying to live his life by the rules of Underworld, which is not always good for him (and the surrounding) He’s one of the character with a longer backstory. He started as an NPC for one of my old campaigns, and instead to be a one-shot who probably would kill some of my players characters - they actually manage to make friends with him.  And the scar - this single scar beneath the eyes - is often the last thing that his opponents will see ;).

Yatchir Paqvis

It’s a shame that I don’t have many arts of this one.  Also: short description is short ;p

He’s a twin brother of Deqatir. 

A warrior (let’s say that), quite skilled actually. Quite short-tempered. He was mentoring by his own father (who is one of the best fighters of all times) and after that, he went to the Temple to give himself to the Devinar protection (Devinar is the God of War and God of Blood in vhvx pantheon). 

Besides his temper, Yatchir is a golden boy - kind, helpful, very caring. Not that much character of a dark elf ;). His bond with his brother and those who are important to him is something he would die for.

Deqatir Paqvis

This guy you’ll be seeing a lot here, because I love to draw him for some reason :D. 

He’s Khalia’s brother, but only by name. The family they live in is more like some sort of “brotherhood”, where everyone who has some good skill is welcome.  Deqatir is a “blood mage”, although while he’s using his blood to cast spells, he’s doing it in more shamanistic ways. Basically, he’s something between a shaman, a voodoo priest and an allseer. 

He’s devoted to Xiss [read “hiss”], his beloved Goddess of Magic. She’s letting him control his powers and even predict the future for some sort (if he could interpret her signs in a correct way ;)). 

Deqatir is often considered a bit insane and mentally unstable, as he sees things that other people can’t and can sometimes talk with souls of the ancestors. Also, the bunch of symbols, patterns and signs that Xiss is giving him every day, makes him look like he’s constantly looking around himself or finding strange things that makes sense only for him.

I’m not drawing her that much, although I know I have to... I guess I’m waiting for the right inspiration to come ;).

Apologize in advance

you may notice, that my posts are quite chaotic, and probably not clear enough at some point. I’m sorry about that. 

I’m not used to writing a blog, or characters descriptions. It should be better in time, with more post, and when my confidence will grow enough to overcome this. 

So if something is unclear - feel free to leave me a note / question. I’ll try to answer with a new post or add some edit to the old one. 

I believe this will help you bond with the characters a bit, so I don’t want anything to be unclear :).

Khalia Paqvis

I guess the best way to start is with the main character for the story. 

Khalia is a young vhramalvx woman (vhramalvx is a race that resembles dark elves), devoted to Kall, which is the God of Suffering, Kall’s domain are torture and pain, but also performing surgeries of any kind, so his followers are often surgeons or at least they have some knowledge how to “repair” the human body. 

I could say that Khalia is simply a doctor, but while she knows how to set the fracture of the bone, she has no idea how to treat the common cold, not to mention other diseases.  So cutting people, putting them back together or making the autopsy are the things that she knows of. Of course for a young vx (I’m using the shortcut from the race name) she have her whole life to learn new things. 

But will she be able to learn, when there’s always something going on, that keeps her away from her study? ;) 

I had a lot of designs for Khalia, and this is the newest one. I struggle with her looks, trying to find a point between cuteness and having about 45 elvish years ;).  And I didn’t mention this before, but the story is kind of erotic, so I also don’t want want for Khalia to look too young, for aesthetic reasons.  Anyway - she has one special feature, that lets her be recognizable - it’s a black strand of hair. It’s in the family, as her father had one and most of his ancestors had one too. Although the design of this strand may change a bit, I’m still not sure if i want it this way, or maybe going from the front part of the hair.

First post.

I made this blog to share some illustrations and short stories I’m making for the big story which is "The Suffering of the Coming Darkness". 

I’m creating this “book” with my dear friend and it’s a story loosely based on an old RPG session. Right now, we have full draft and many pages of the first version. This version however got some proofread and suddenly we had to change a lot. So now, there’s second chapter to be done. And onward to the rest. 

I will publish the book whenever we’ll have a bit more text to it. The first version will be in polish, but I’ll try to translate it to English and publish this version as well. 

I have hopes for making a comic book from the story, with my own twists and plots that won’t be shown in the book. It’ll take a lot of time, but it’s nice to have a goal I guess ;). 

In the meantime, I’ll post some things related to the story here - characters with descriptions and ref sheets, some illustrations, maybe a bit of shitposting. And later, I’m hoping for some storyboard and sketches of the comic pages itself.
