“I’ll personally kick the ass of anyone with fake horns and painted on red skin.”
“Idiots.”
ersatzsun:
“I admit, there seems to be some reasoning behind it that escapes me. Perhaps it’s the world I come from, we have no locations with the same… atmosphere.” She gestures vaguely to the air in front of her. But she’s not sure she wants to reveal too much about the location. If he’s interested at all, he can find out for himself. “If it is not to your taste, then don’t go there. Simple as that.”
“When I fight back home, I fight to kill. It’s not easy to just ditch that instinct. Monsters are a dime a dozen outside of towns and there are even dragons in abundance. You have to be ready to fight. Fighting shouldn’t really be considered fun.” A brief pause as his eyes flicked away for a moment before returning to her, “Don’t worry, I won’t be visiting any silly little club. If I’m going to fight, I plan on gaining something out of it other than a few small bruises.”
ersatzsun:
“People find recreational enjoyment in it, and one can hardly get better at fighting without practice. There is moderation in place to ensure nobody goes too far with their efforts. But really, if you wanted to kill somebody, why wait until you’ve met each other in a place surrounded by other fighters who might intervene? Surely you could find a more opportune time to attack them.”
“You speak as though a decent fighter wouldn’t be able to keep fighting until they got their opponent to the point where it would be easy to kill them. ‘Accidents’ tend to happen. Regardless, I suppose you have a point. It still seems stupid when there are plenty of riff-raff to kick the hell out of in multiple sectors of the city. Thugs, wolves, and in my absence it appears even stronger creatures have appeared. Fighting against one another with fists will only make you so good at fighting.”
ersatzsun:
“There are. I’ve been attending it, but only as a spectator.”
“And why the hell would anyone want to fight for anything but the sake of beating the shit out of someone you hate? What’s to stop anyone from killing?
“...There are not fight clubs here.”
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.

“Turn your eyes away from me, girl. A being like me is liable to pluck them from their sockets and put them in a stew.”
Admittedly, he hadn’t gotten such a line from his own mind but from women clutching their children close, shielding them from his very presence. As though his very being might corrupt their little innocent minds. He had no such powers, he could assure anyone. But would they listen? Well, that was certainly up for debate. Given his status back home, it was much easier to play the part of the monster. Especially with a real monster keeping a diligent watch over him. Even in this city he could feel Ghaunadaur’s grip clutching at the back of his neck as though trying to force him forward.

“If you’re some kind of Djinn, I’m not interested in your damn wishes. Beat it before I kick you to the curb.”
The creature before him was unlike any he’d seen before. He didn’t exactly know what a Djinn looked like. All he knew was that he didn’t much care for whoever this person was. He wasn’t one to judge based upon appearances...but with a potentially dangerous creature making an appearance before him, he didn’t want to take any chances.
The Tiefling also wasn’t entirely one to enjoy the company of others.
“This place is just as annoying and loud as ever.”

“Oh but space is only an ever arcing circle. The further I get from you from one side, the closer I will get to your other side. Because in the truths of the world. Everything needs something. Nothing is ever truly alone.“
Oh your wise monk wisdom was showing. But when you have seen the thihgs you have. The world is just that much of a broader place. A small smirk forms from the diminishing of your usual gleeful smile.
“You’re right. I do know nothing of you. You know nothing of me. But this I will tell you. I am not just a human. I too am an elf. And raised by a dwarf. My views on the world is not small. While some might only see through a pinhole, I see through the mouth of a cavern.Fire can burn, but fire also warms. Fire helps more then it hurts. You can see that? Right?”
“No. Space is a forever expanding circle away from one point. Expanding even beyond the planet we currently reside on. If it’s even a planet at all. You can’t go very far here so if I stay on one side of the city and you stay on one side of the city...it’ll be pretty fuckin’ easy for you to stay the hell away from me.”
Harsh? Yes. But Lucius was never known for being kind to anything but animals. But elves? Well, he didn’t give a shit about them either. His eyes narrowed as he saw that smirk, lips drawing into a neutral line.
“You’re sorely mistaken if you think being an elf helps your cause. All races have my ire. And yes, I know nothing of you but I don’t particularly care to either. If you seek friends...I promise you’ll find none with me. You are so proud. Claiming that you see the world as nobody else does, yet you can’t see that I want nothing to do with you despite the fact that I’ve made it abundantly clear.”
naturaprinceps:
“As if you expected anything else, really,” she mutters with another laugh. “Besides– you like it and you know it.”
“...Well. I can’t deny either of those statements.”
flurryoffury:
Oh there was a deep negativity stemming from the other. Enough to shake your core. Was it the rejection or the fact he thought of you less enough to just end things before it started. You begin to chew at the corner of your mouth as your hand slowly slumps, falling to the side of your waist.
“I’m not one to need much, Lucius. But I do like the fact of expanding my horizons and the best way to do that is meeting new people and creatures.” You say, in the same positive voice you’ve had since the beginning.
“I hope to know that deep down inside. That the fire that kissed you, will light your way to amazing things.”
“You know nothing of me. I would thank you to not make assumptions. You aren’t one to need much...but I am one to need space.”
He was not sure who this person was. He did not particularly care either. He wasn’t very good at making friends. Everyone had an ulterior motive. That was what he found. That motive was typically fear. Being friends with a dangerous individual like Lucius typically lead to one’s enemies fearing them. Sometimes this was mutually beneficial and he allowed it...but it seemed this one was content with trying to pull him out of the fire.
“The fire in me can’t be extinguished. You’d do well to back off before you get burned, human.”

So it seems that familiarity happens in this city too. Though his face is not exactly someone you know personally you can see from the physical aspect that you are face to face with a tiefling. While most would regard them with awe and fear, your brothers at the monastery taught you better then that. Instead you grace him with a smile and an extended hand.
“Well met friend.” You said with a slight elongation of the word at the end, eyes locking with the other. “My name is Liu Canglong but my friends call me Redbean.”
“We’re not friends. Nor do I have any interest in being your friend.”
Those were the only words that rose from the Tiefling’s lips, eyes narrowing at the other dully. He looked him over slowly, not particularly caring about what he saw. The other didn’t seem to mind his presence. No fear. No anger. “I’m Lucius. Did you need something or were you just trying to needlessly exchange pleasantries?” There was spite in his words. There was anger there. That was just who he was.
