Such an amazing day of learning for our fifth graders! I loved to hear my students talk to one another with wonder about the wildlife in this beautiful sanctuary! The naturalists at Sea and Sage were outstanding! They inspire my students to stay curious, defend life, and embrace science! It was amazing!!! Seabirds Kitchen was AMAZING!!! The Brussels sprouts were outstanding.. with that roasted garlic... (man, to die for!!)... the cauliflower ceviche was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Yep, Tom ate it all... even with the avocado... lol. The vegan beet burger was all music to my belly... in true honesty, the more veggies we eat the more GOOD we do... to our planet, our loved ones (who will inherit this planet), our health, and our stewardship in our world. Every thing we do counts... a meal... a purchase...any choice. It's not about egos... bodies... "traditions" or the image we want to portray... it is about ALL of US... the simplicity... the vulnerability of who we are as beings of this Mother Earth which we all inhabit. One simple act can make a huge difference... eat those yummy veggies. I truly had an amazing day! My students surprised me with a small birthday celebration at the end of the day! They brought me a veggie and a fruit salad... oreo cookies, and two big cakes to share with the class. They were so sweet... recieved several cards, drawings, flowers, and a couple of my students even prepared speeches for me. I felt so much love! This school year I set myself to embrace and encourage kindness in my students and sharing a smile with them (and every one) each day. Every morning, my students and I share our smiles with a "Good morning" before coming into class. I feel that this simple act has been working in setting a positive mood for our school day! We're busy bees working in class... it might get too busy at times, but that smile softens the outlook of our day. Funny how things work out... I was misinformed about Gratitude Cafe being open today... we went all the way to Newport Beach to find myself disappointed. Gratitude was officially closed! 😔 However; I'm learning to trust the universe guide my path... so we're returned to North OC and we decided to try this spot. Lots of vegan options! I had their vegan curry... It was delish!!!
