My cousin was watching the Queen Charlotte Bridgerton spinoff show and the end of it made me cry. Fucked up for a Bridgerton spinoff show to do that.

My parents randomly decided to start watching Dexter. But they simply began watching it FROM THE EPISODE I LEFT OFF ON WHICH WAS 4x07. They watched three episodes. Just randomly watched the Thanksgiving dinner scene with almost no context.

Update: Convinced them to start from the beginning instead of behaving like animals but Dexter is grossing them out because they are weak in spirit and can't appreciate his early freak narrations about dead bodies.

Update 2: they watched 1x05 last night and when Dexter realized someone was killing cuban immigrants and said ominously, “Sounds like someone’s doing something very bad” my dad did a gleeful little giggle. Dex is growing on them.

Update 3: they were absolutely SHOCKED by the Rudy as the ice truck killer reveal. They thought he was weird and were suspicious of him, then midway through 1x08 they decided maybe he was actually normal and a good guy and then WHAM he hit them with the craigslist reply.

“I even stopped worrying about that friend who’s been out of touch. You can’t control other people, you know?”

Dexter saying this to Meridian (the therapist) in 1x08 “Shrink Wrap”. The friend who’s been out of touch is the ice truck killer (this is the episode where Dex is so desperate to hear from the ITK that he makes the Craigslist ad).

Dex is also keeping the Barbie head on his key chain, and notably, it features prominently as Dex runs from Rita’s apartment after being too scared to have sex with her.

He gets in the car, thinks to himself that he doesn’t want Rita to go, and decides to schedule another therapy session with Meridian. After he and Rita have sex, Dexter reports back to Meridian that he has stopped worrying about where the ITK went.

He has sex with Rita which he’s been afraid of because it requires vulnerability, and after Rita accepts him, the longing to hear from the ITK again goes away, because all the ITK actually represents is Dex’s desire to be known and accepted.
