The botanist and ecologist had told The Independent that “in a way I’m looking forward to it, as an end”, having previously said he regretted living so long. A person on the brink of death should be given control over his rite of passing.Â
Without an assisted dying law people are taking their life behind closed doors - making a dying person’s situation worse. They are unable to have open conversations with their doctor or family , for if found out , could result in possible prison sentence of up to 14 years.
"I don't feel that anyone else's choice is involved," Professor David Goodall, 104, said, "It's my own choice to end my life tomorrow."
