     in true kira fashion, she’s too far-gone and focused in her work to realise that — surprise, surprise, it’s almost FOUR in the morning and she’s still tinkering about in the lab when she should be at home, sleeping. like a normal person. it’s so bad that she doesn’t even hear his approach — though that might be owing to her compromised and tired senses more than anything else.

      having passed out for probably less than two hours on his desk at shield’s hq slept enough to regain some energy, the engineer leaves shield to get to stark resilient; it’s barely three in the morning when he gets behind his other desk and tries to get some paperwork done. when jarvis casually gives him the time (five to four), tony finally decides that work can wait and heads for the labs. he is halfway to his usual spot -when not at home- when he spots the young, new intern engrossed in ---- something. he stops and walks in, getting close enough to make out what she is working on; but kira doesn’t notice him and standing there just looking pretty doesn’t sound like a plan, so he clears his throat. it still sounds rough, having only used it to speak with jarvis from time to time, but it’s soft enough.
