Chapter 5: The Static Bridge
The Ruins — The Overlap
The air felt wrong.
Not wind. Not warmth.
A thin, sharp pressure—like breathing through broken glass.
Each step echoed softly.
Crunch.
Grey dust coated the floor.
Gaster walked forward, his boots pressing into the fine powder.
Monster dust.
The Ruins were silent.
No Froggits.
No Whimsuns.
No movement.
Even the puzzles—
once carefully designed—
were shattered.
Broken apart.
Solved by force.
The Fear
Frisk drifted behind him, flickering slightly.
FRISK: Gaster? …Hey… Gaster… Gaster… GASTER!!
GASTER: Cease your vocalization. My auditory receptors are functioning within optimal parameters.
Frisk looked around, uneasy.
FRISK: …I’m just a little scared. It feels like the walls are watching us.
GASTER: You lack a nervous system. Fear is not applicable.
(pause)
…Explain how you know my name.
FRISK: I don’t know… I just know it.
GASTER (Internal): Hypothesis: Memory leak from fusion event. Human accessed identity data.
Inconsistency: I cannot access theirs.
Conclusion: Their past is… blocked.
The Broken Bridge
They reached the gap.
The bridge was gone.
Not broken.
Not collapsed.
Deleted.
Only a jagged edge remained.
FRISK: …That’s not normal…
GASTER: We are overlapping with another timeline.
(pause)
A graveyard.
Frisk went quiet.
GASTER: The responsible entity may still be present.
Human… your cooperation is required.
If you restrict my output, we both cease to exist.
FRISK: …Okay. I won’t stop you.
(pause)
…but please don’t kill anyone.
GASTER: I do not make promises.
The House of Ash
Toriel’s house stood ahead.
Dark.
Still.
Unfamiliar.
Like a memory that had been damaged.
GASTER: You will scout.
FRISK: …Say please.
GASTER: No.
FRISK: Wow.
Frisk phased inside.
Time passed.
Too long.
When they returned—
their form flickered more than before.
FRISK: …it’s dark… I couldn’t see much…
(pause)
…but someone is inside.
Gaster didn’t wait.
The Break
The door opened.
Darkness filled the room.
Gaster forced energy into the system—
CLICK.
The light flickered on.
Toriel
She was collapsed.
Injured.
Dust slipping from her form.
FRISK: MOM!!
Gaster froze.
GASTER (quiet): …My Queen.
Toriel’s eyes opened slowly.
Fear filled them.
TORIEL: …You came back… to finish it…?
Silence.
TORIEL (weak): My child… why do you hate me…?
Frisk stepped back, shaking.
FRISK: …I didn’t…
Toriel blinked.
TORIEL: …Oh…
(pause)
…You’re not him… SYSTEM ERROR
The world cracked.
Sound distorted.
Light broke apart.
Everything collapsed—
The Snap Back
Warm air.
Soft light.
The smell of cinnamon and butterscotch filled the room.
Toriel stood there, unharmed, holding a pie.
TORIEL: Oh! There you are, my child! You look tired. Why not rest?
Gaster stood completely still.
His breathing uneven.
GASTER (Internal): Impossible.
No transition.
No trigger.
Frisk moved closer.
FRISK (whisper): Gaster… act normal…
Toriel stepped closer, concerned.
The Detail
Gaster looked at the table.
Then the plate.
Then—
the fork.
GASTER (low): Frisk.
FRISK: …What?
GASTER: The fork is on the left.
The napkin is angled.
(pause)
She did not do that.
Frisk froze.
FRISK: …What do you mean…?
Gaster’s voice dropped.
Final Line
GASTER: He was here.
(pause)
In this room.
FRISK: …In my room…?
GASTER: He did not replace us.
(pause)
He studied us.

Chapter 4: The Static Silence
Location: The Ruins – The Long Hallway
Toriel led GasterF through the leaf-strewn corridors. She stopped in front of a simple training dummy.
TORIEL: "As a human in the Underground, monsters may attack you. But do not worry! You can simply strike up a friendly conversation. Practice on this dummy!"
GasterF: hmmm this look like dummy. Communicate with him have 0% succed
TORIEL: "Oh! You use such big words, little one! Just... give it a try? For me?"
GasterF sighed— ahhh is lost of time. Hey dummy you don t look so stupid
gasterF I need to skip all of this is waste of time
Toriel was clapping her hands.
(they move forawd )
TORIEL: "Wonderful! You looked so... intense! Now, there is one more thing I must ask of you. I have an errand to run. Please, stay in this hallway. Do not leave. It is for your own safety."
She gave his hand a final, warm squeeze and hurried away.
THE SOLITUDE
GasterF stood alone. The silence of the Ruins felt heavy, pressing against his ears.
GasterF: "Safety... I do not have time to wait like a lost child."
He marched forward. His legs were short, and his balance felt off. He felt like a giant trapped in a doll's house. Suddenly, a Froggit hopped out from behind a pillar, croaking a challenge. It lunged, its small magical flies buzzing toward him.
GasterF: "Cease your aggression, biological nuisance, or I will be forced to neutralize you."
The Froggit did not listen. It attacked again. GasterF felt a surge of irritation. He raised his hand, his fingers twitching to summon a Blaster, but a white-hot spike of pain shot through his chest. He gasped, falling to one knee.
GasterF: "Nngh! The pain... it is internal. I must... try again. I need to move from theory to practice."
He forced himself to stand. He ignored the burning in his ribs and focused. "GASTER BLASTER!" A massive skeletal skull flickered into existence, but it looked distorted, dripping with black static. The pain doubled. Gaster felt like his very marrow was boiling.
GasterF (Internal): Hypothesis 1: A monster soul and human soul can work together, but the 'Vessel' is resisting. If Gaster is the Water and the Human is the Cup... the Water cannot exist without the Cup. If the Cup refuses to hold the Water, everything spills. Hypothesis 2: I am failing the fusion. I am becoming an Amalgamate. I must risk the latter to prove the former.
GasterF: "I... will not... STOP!"
VOICE: "STOP!"
The command didn't come from the hallway. It came from inside his mind. The shock caused the Blaster to vanish instantly. GasterF collapsed, gasping for air as the Froggit, confused and terrified by the strange display of power, fled into the shadows.
GasterF: "I know... you are there... human. You are not... erased."
The command didn't come from the hallway. It came from inside his mind. The shock caused the Blaster to vanish instantly. GasterF collapsed, gasping for air as the Froggit, confused and terrified by the strange display of power, fled into the shadows.
GasterF: "I know... you are there... human.
the frogie confuse saw this was strange and scary from frogy bey
GasterF: afrer time past gasterF weak up
GasterF (Internal): Observation I hear voise of the human and maybe I am crazy but I think I see the human like ghost not this can t be if was crazy I can t control my mind I need ….
GasterF (Internal): Status: Consciousness regained. Physical vessel is intact, though the integrity of the soul remains... questionable. I can hear a frequency... a voice. Hypothesis: Auditory hallucination due to Void-stress. If I am losing my mind, I will lose my ability to control this reality. I need to—
Frisk (Ghost): "Um... hello? I know what just happened... but can you please try not to hurt anyone else?"
GasterF froze. He didn't just hear it; he felt the vibration in his chest. He looked up. Standing a few feet away was a translucent, shimmering image of the human child.
GasterF: "Hmph. I am not crazy. Or perhaps I am, and my imagination is simply very vivid. But I do not trust my mind; it has been shattered for an eternity. I trust my eyes. And my eyes see an anomaly."
He pointed a skeletal finger at the ghost.
GasterF: "Human! Explain yourself. Why are you still... 'alive'? And for how long has your consciousness been tethered to this coordinate?"
Frisk (Ghost): "I... I don't know. Ever since the light went white. In the beginning, it was... it was fine. I was totally cool with it."
[FLASHBACK: THE MERGE] In the moment the souls collided, Frisk was floating in a sea of darkness. They had no hands to hold, no feet to stand on. They weren't "cool." They were curled into a ball, shaking and crying out for Toriel, for Sans, for anyone, until their voice gave out.
Frisk (Ghost): "Yeah. I was... totally cool."
GasterF narrowed his eyes. He saw the flicker in the ghost’s form—the way they looked down at their transparent shoes. Even without a heartbeat, the human was a terrible liar.
GasterF: "Fascinating. Then you are a 'Residual Soul Trace.' A fragment of Determination that refused to be overwritten by my code. You are the 'ghost' in my machine."
He stood up, brushing the dust off his oversized coat. He looked at Frisk, then looked at his own small, pale hands. He felt a strange, heavy sensation in his chest—it wasn't magic, it was guilt.
GasterF: "Human... Frisk. I am... perhaps... somewhat apologetic. Regarding the unauthorized 'theft' of your physical vessel. It was an act of desperation, not a planned hostile takeover. My survival instinct overrode my ethics."
Frisk (Ghost): "It's okay. I mean, it's not, but... I saw you dying. I think I tried to help, and then everything just... broke." Wait what do you mean somewhat
GasterF because I am short and slow I cant use my power and I am short I feel like my assitent I feel more weak that beffor
Frisk: then why you don t stole another body
Gaster: what do you think human you think I have time…
[S Y S T E M _ E R R O R]
The world shivered. The purple bricks of the Ruins bled into a charcoal grey. The air grew freezing, and the smell of old dust filled Gaster’s nose.
GasterF: "Human... do you recognize these coordinates?"
Frisk: "First, my name is Frisk. Second... no. It’s too dark."
GasterF: you are "Useless."
Frisk (Internal): (What do you mean, useless?! I'm not a nerd! I'm not supposed to know everything about inter-dimensional travel!)
Frisk’s ghost form made a face of pure confusion and annoyance, their arms crossed over their chest. Gaster didn't notice;
Gaster stood up, noticing that the glitch wasn't ending. Usually, the world snapped back in seconds. This time, the darkness stayed.
GasterF: "Interesting. The duration of the anomaly is increasing. Before, the return was instantaneous. Now... we are lingering."
Frisk: "What does that mean?"
GasterF: "Shhh. I am calculating."
GasterF (Internal): If the duration increases with every glitch, my second hypothesis is likely correct. We are not just 'seeing' another world. We are merging with it. And judging by the amount of monster dust on the floor here... the 'other human' in this timeline is a butcher. We are being pulled into a graveyard.
Frisk began yelling in the background, offended by the "shhh," but Gaster ignored him. He was staring at a pile of dust in the corner that hadn't been there a moment ago.
[VOID_TALE]. Chapter 3
📍 Location: The Ruins – Entrance Hall
GasterF stood still staring at the spot where the flower used to be. For a moment the air around him seemed to shimmer like it was really hot outside.
The golden flowers did not just disappear. They were replaced by a picture of torn up petals and grey dust. The ground looked like it had been burned, as if some kind of magic had destroyed everything that was living there. Then in an instant everything went back to normal. It was empty dirt again.
GasterF said, "Am I seeing things? My eyes should be working properly.. What I am seeing does not make sense."
He looked at his hands. Saw tiny sparks dancing around his fingertips.
GasterF thought to himself "I think I used much energy when I made the Blaster appear. I might have broken something inside me. I might have even damaged the Ruins. I need to get to my Lab so I can use my equipment to check if everything is okay."
He started walking. He turned the corner. That is when he saw her.
THE GUARDIAN
A tall figure in a cape was standing near the door. She. Put her hands over her mouth when she saw the child with white hair and a cracked face.
TORIEL said, "Oh my you look so different. Do not be scared one. I am TORIEL the guardian of the RUINS."
She walked closer looking worried like a mother. She did not seem to notice that something was wrong with GasterF. She just saw a child who looked like he had been through a lot.
TORIEL said, "You look really pale and you have marks on your face. Are you hurt? I come through here every day to see if anyone needs help. You are the person I have seen in a long time."
GasterF stared at her. He remembered her. He remembered the Queen.. To her he was a stranger. A child.
GasterF said, "I am… Um… Frisk. I need to go to the Capital."
TORIEL said, "The Capital? You are too young to go. The Ruins are full of puzzles and traps. Let me help you. It is not safe to go."
She took his hand. Her hand was warm. It felt real in a way that GasterF did not feel real anymore.
🐛 THE BUG: THE SMASHED PATHWAY
Toriel led him to the puzzle. A bridge with spikes.
TORIEL said, "This is the puzzle but do not worry. Just hold my hand. Stay close to me. I will -"
[S Y S T E M _ E R R O R]
Everything around him seemed to scream. The purple stones of the Ruins turned grey. The light went away. For GasterF the hand holding his did not disappear but the woman became a picture.
The bridge in front of him was gone.
The Sight: The spikes were not hidden in the floor. They were smashed. Big pieces of stone were torn out of the ground.
The Dust: A thick layer of dust covered the floor like snow.
The Atmosphere: It felt cold. The air smelled like electricity and metal.
GasterF looked at the version of the trap. It was not just solved. It was destroyed by force.
GasterF said, "What is this? Everything is destroyed."
Then as quickly everything went back to normal. The stones were purple again. The bridge was intact. Toriel was looking at him with a face not knowing that she was standing in a different world.
TORIEL said, "Is something wrong child? You squeezed my hand hard just now."
GasterF said, "The floor… I thought I saw… Never mind. Let us keep going."
GasterF thought to himself "It is not my magic. What was that other world or time? This cannot be. I have two ideas.
I am connected to two worlds. Sometimes I can see the other world. This might be because I became one with a human and the world is trying to reject me.
Two worlds are trying to become one. I can see it because my soul was, in the Void, which makes me immune. But if this is real it is bad because I saw that the other world was not destroyed by nature. It was destroyed by force."
But these are ideas. Nothing is certain.

[VOID_TALE]. Chapter 2
FLASHBACK: THE LAB. [DATA REDACTED]
The air in the Royal Lab was thick with the smell of ozone and burning chemicals. King Asgore stood by the blueprints of the DT Extractor. His massive shoulders were slumped because his kingdom was dying.
"Doctor " King Asgore said in a voice. "The Barrier will not break. My people are losing hope. We need more than hope. We need power. I want an army. I want monsters that are fueled by Determination."
Gaster did not look up from his vials. "Determination is volatile your Majesty. If we put it into a monster soul it will cause problems. It is corrosive."
"Then find a vessel without a soul " King Asgore commanded. "Start with something. Use the flowers. If we can make life from nothing we can make an army."
Gaster looked at the glow of a flower on his desk.
"As you wish. My apprentice and I will start the injections away."
The results never came. There was an accident. The Doctor fell.. The flowers were left in the hands of a nervous assistant.
🌻 PRESENT DAY: THE ENCOUNTER
Flowey popped out of the ground with a sound.
FLOWEY: "Hello. I am FLOWEY. I am FLOWEY the FLOWER."
Flowey winked,. Then his smile faltered as he looked at Gasters white hair and scarred face.
FLOWEY: "Wait a minute."
Floweys face changed to a look.
FLOWEY: "You are new are you not? You look terrible. Is that hair? And those cracks on your face did you fall down a flight of stairs?"
FLOWEY: "Something about you feels wrong."
Gaster thought to himself: I have found the Golden Flower. My apprentice actually did it. She finished the Soulless Vessel project.. Look at it it can talk. It is annoying.
FLOWEY: "Do not ignore me. You are new to the Underground are you not? I will show you how things work here."
FLOWEY: "See that heart that is your soul. You want some love do you not? Do not worry I will share some with you."
Five white pellets appeared behind him.. Then Floweys face went blank. There were no eyes, no mouth, a white void.
FLOWEY: "…Just kidding."
The pellets vanished.
FLOWEY: "Do not take those pellets or you will have a problem. You need to find the Goat. She will help you. For now."
Gaster said: "I see. I will do this."
Gaster thought to himself: I need to perform experiments on this flower to see how it works.. First I must fix this body. My soul is still not working right.
Gaster walked forward into the Ruins. Flowey stayed behind wearing a smile.
🩸 THE AWAKENING
Gaster had not walked far when he felt a pain in his chest. It was not physical it was emotional. A scream came from the center of his soul, a voice that was not his.
FRISK screamed: "NOOOOO. STOP. DO NOT KILL THE HUMAN. NOT AGAIN."
Gaster gasped, clutching his chest. The humans grief was so strong it almost knocked him over. He spun around his coat whipping in the wind.
Gaster said: "What was that?"
He ran back, to the patch of flowers thinking the child was reacting to the flower.. When he arrived the patch was empty.

[VOID_TALE] — Chapter 1: The Faulty Fuse
Location: The Ruins - The Patch of Golden Flowers.
(Gaster lies on the flowers, staring at his small, pale hands. He slowly clenches them into fists.)
Gaster: "What has happened...? where I am. Ah... I remember now. I was in despair. I was dying. The poor human... they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time
(He sits up, his breath hitching. Every movement feels heavy.)
Gaster: "But I understand something now. Despair can make anyone fight for their life at any cost. Even a me."
Gaster (Internal): > I cannot remember after I fall in the core ... or how I even appeared there. Ah somethink missing. How... interesting. I must find my old research. Fortunately, this vessel is a fascinating specimen.
(He examines the palms of his hands, tracing the circular scars.)
Gaster: "I feel different than I did as a monster. if I am monster with Determination? Or a human with a monster's soul? Which of these two is the 'real' me now? And what happens if I die? Do I truly perish, or does the human return? So many questions..."
(He touches the jagged cracks on his face.)
Gaster: "This body has inherited the details of my old form. There are holes in the hands, but they aren't like mine were. They look like scars. It seems when two souls fuse, they share their traits. But... is the human really die or ….
(He stands up and extends his arm. A massive, bone-white Gaster Blaster begins to manifest in the air. It hums with power—but after only three seconds, it flickers like a dying lightbulb and vanishes.)
Gaster: "What—!"
(His knees buckle. He collapses back onto the stone floor, gasping for air.)
Gaster: "what happen . It seems monster and human powers cannot work together yet. I cannot use my full strength. My code is fighting itself. This is... problematic."
Maybe the the fused soul cant use 100% power or somethink hold me but I think I cant be sure for this.
(He forces himself back to his feet, leaning against the cold stone wall.)
Gaster: "I cannot think about this now. I must move forward. I must—"
(Step. Step. Stop.)
Gaster: "...Is this... a flower?"

[VOID_TALE] BEGGING
The Surface: Sunset
The Barrier was gone. For the first time in centuries, the monsters stood upon the surface, bathed in the orange radiance of a setting sun. Frisk stood amongst them—Toriel, Asgore, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys. They were happy. They were finally free.
But for Frisk, a hollow ache remained. A quiet whisper scratched at the back of their mind: “What if we could see them all again for the first time? What if we could do it just once more?”
The Button
In the center of Frisk’s vision, a golden box manifested. It hummed with a warmth that felt like home.
[ ❤️ TRUE RESET ] “Everything will return to the start. No one will remember anything. Are you sure?”
Frisk smiled. They reached out a small, sun-kissed hand to press the button, yearning to taste the magic of the Underground one last time. They expected the world to fade into white. They expected the familiar sound of the wind.
They were wrong.
The Reset Glitch
The world was supposed to restart, but the code did not loop. As the command was sent, a jagged crack tore through the white light of the transition. For a split second, the Void and the Real World collided.
✋☠❄☜☼☜💧❄✋☠☝📬 (INTERESTING.) DARK. DARKER. YET DARKER. THE DARKNESS KEEPS GROWING. THE SHADOWS CUT INTO MY VERY ESSENCE. BUT THEN—
In the heart of the darkness, a white door appeared, glowing with a sterile, cold light. W.D. Gaster stepped through. He was not whole; he was a translucent, fading phantom. He was free from the Void, but his soul was still anchored to the nothingness. He was a timer counting down to zero, turning to gray dust from the feet up.
The King and the Stranger
Gaster wandered through the Underground like a ghost in a machine. He did not know his own name—his memories were shards of broken glass, sharp and disconnected. Monsters fled in terror from the "Glitched Phantom."
The Royal Guard eventually cornered him. They did not recognize the former Royal Scientist; they saw only a threat. They arrested him and brought him to the Throne Room.
King Asgore sat with him, offering a cup of tea, trying to reach the silent, "brain-dead" prisoner. Asgore looked into Gaster's hollow eyes and felt a haunting, agonizing familiarity, but the Void had surgically erased Gaster’s name from his mind.
The Barrier: The Final Seconds
The tea was never finished. The human child, Frisk, entered the room. The King stood, his face hardening. "I must go to save my people," he whispered.
Asgore and the child moved toward the Barrier. Gaster was left behind, guarded by soldiers, but he could feel the cold breath of the end. His chest began to burn. His hands were flaking away into ash.
Gaster (Internal): > No... not again. The memories... they are returning. I am W.D. Gaster. I built the CORE. I am the Architect! I will not be a footnote in history! I want to LIVE!
The terror of non-existence shattered his amnesia. Gaster tore through his guards, his ghostly form flickering wildly. He reached the Barrier just as Asgore fell to his knees, reaching for the 6 Human Souls to end the struggle.
The Overwrite
Gaster did not hesitate. He threw his fading, dusting body directly into the canisters.
Gaster: "MINE!"
As he seized the canisters, Frisk lunged forward in a desperate attempt to stop him. The Red Soul of Determination collided with Gaster and the six captured souls all at once. Everything happened too fast—the raw energy of the six souls reacted violently to Frisk's presence.
In the chaos, no one was sure who triggered it. Frisk tried to pull back, and Gaster tried to hold on, but his skeletal fingers had already clamped firmly around Frisk’s soul.
The world turned a blinding, violent white. The True Reset was no longer a choice or a plan. It was a catastrophic accident—a glitch born from the friction of too much power in one place. Reality couldn't hold the weight of them both.
When the light faded, the golden flowers were there. The white hair was there. The scars were there.
And Frisk... was gone.

THE SETTING: THE WAR & THE BARRIER
Long ago, Humans and Monsters ruled the Earth. After a brutal war, Humans were victorious. Their most powerful mages sealed the monsters underground with a magical veil: The Barrier.
The Barrier: A one-way seal at the heart of Mount Ebott. Anything can enter, but nothing can leave unless they possess a Human and Monster soul combined.
The Goal: Seven human souls are needed to shatter the seal forever. Six have already been collected and stored in jars by King Asgore. The seventh was meant to be the end.
❤️ THE MECHANICS: SOUL & DETERMINATION
Monster Souls: Composed of magic and compassion. They turn to dust instantly upon death.
Human Souls: Composed of physical matter and Determination (DT). They persist after death and allow the user to control time via SAVES and RESETS.
