Also from my teaching at the IMC in North Dakota. Showing my students washes and layering them.
Have a frog study. I went to the International Music Camp in North Dakota as the painting instructor. Took the students to the gardens and had them sketch what they saw. This was one of my contributions to the lesson!
30 Days of Ink, Day 3: an animal
30 Days of Ink, Day 2: favorite corner in my house
30 Days of Ink, Day 1: Self Portrait I didn't have the greatest pen, but here it goes!
Yesterday (L) versus Today (R). What a difference a day makes. Truly grateful for putting my art out there and receiving honest critique. The best input came from my best friend in Minnesota when I expressed concern about the feeling of my painting: "I think it's the top foot more than the bottom one, maybe the leg. It just doesn't have that soft baby feeling" So, the goal yesterday was to soften it up. Make it more "baby!" One of the hardest but most rewarding things I've learned as an artist is that a second, fourth, and tenth critique is always valuable! Open yourself up to criticism and you grow.
Because having that special place you can call your Studio is hugely important. Steve and I are looking at new rentals for the next lease. My deciding factor is a room for my studio. His is a Fire-burning Stove.

Radar Ink on paper 5x7" 2016
Used only my Sigma Micron 005 pen. Went in to work at 2am this morning and needed to stimulate my brain. My dog, Radar, deserved to be doodled!
Minus the piece of my dogs hair in this photo, this pretty much shows what I am doing... for upwards of 60 hours.

My dogs are tired after a long, snowy adventure today!
Progress is what progress does! This is a very humbling commission for me to be working on. For a husband and wife who lost their baby in the first hour on earth. Honoring the memory of Hannah. I am going to try to make the blankets look ethereal, like the clouds and heaven... Fingers crossed
