Atracción Fatal ♦ Queen
To say that Queen was surprised upon finding her room was an understatement. In fact, the moment she’d found the snoozing occupant she’d dropped her bags off and turned on her heel to find whoever was in charge of the housing. There was absolutely no way she was going to room with someone of the opposite gender. Or so she’d thought. It had proven a fruitless search - nearly an hour only to realize that she was stuck with her current roommate. Maybe in time she’d make some friends who would allow her to move in with them. As it was, she was stuck.
It was a dejected Queen that returned to their room. At the very least, he appeared neat. The room wasn’t a mess. Hauling her bags onto her own bed, Queen set about unpacking them. Drawers were filled with neatly-folded clothes. Dresses and dress uniforms were hung up. Shower supplies were stowed away. By the time Diego had even begun to stir, Queen was nearly finished. She worked in silence, careful not to wake up her roommate and end up with a bad first impression. Violet eyes inspected every item that passed through her hands - ensuring that everything was undamaged. It wasn’t until she’d finished that Queen felt panic seize her heart. Didn’t she have a sword? She could have sword she’d brought a sword with her. Her memory was fuzzy, but she remembered wrapping the beautiful steel with a protective cover. She did have a sword, didn’t she?
It was these thoughts that distracted her from turning to look at Diego. Instead, Queen stood with folded arms on her side of the room. Come to think of it, she felt somehow weaker - as if she was missing some part of herself. Well, aside from her memories. The more she tried to chase them down, the more they slipped from her grasp. It was irritating. A few moments of silence followed. It was only then that she calmed herself. It simply couldn’t be helped. With a soft sigh, Queen turned to look at her sleeping companion once more.
Only he wasn’t sleeping. He was watching her.
"Did I wake you?" She didn’t even have time to mask her surprise. Queen adjusted her glasses nervously. So this was her roommate. All things considered, it could be worse. He could be unattractive. If anything, he was beautiful in the way that men were beautiful. It made Queen more than a little nervous, though, to know that he would see her at her worst. Then again, she was here to learn. She shouldn’t have even been considering any sort of romantic entanglement with someone. Even if that someone was easily one of the most attractive people she’d ever seen. Wait. He was speaking. "A-Ah. It’s nice to meet you, Diego. My name is Queen." With that, she gave a formal bow. "I hope we will be able to get along well."
An awkward silence passed. He was still staring at her. Lifting a hand, Queen adjusted her glasses before flashing a smile. “You seem quite exhausted. Have you been unable to sleep?” Closing the door of her closet, Queen turned to face him fully. It felt awkward to speak to a stranger. “I am sorry if I woke you. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping. It can be frustrating to be woken up when you have finally fallen asleep.”
It seemed as if everything was coincidence now. She was well-mannered, polite, and above all beautiful. How did he get lucky here? It was truly the luck of the draw. However, Diego was not going to complain everything he could want in a single person was here. Right before him stood a perfect specimen and one he would twist and bend to his favor. He smiled as she rambled; he listened to every word she said. Her name was Queen… Odd, but it suited her. She seemed regal as her name suggested. Diego narrowed his eyes in interest at the young woman before him. What else could be learned from her rambling? She seemed modest, but he could not underestimate her so early. She could be hiding something or perhaps she wasn’t. He didn’t know anything quite yet. But she did seem at unease with being in the same room as him. Diego pondered several thoughts on how to curate her discomfort with sharing the room with the opposite sex.
That was it. He could be her very own prince charming. It would be easy. Or so he thought it would be. Diego continued to watch her, his gaze was unwavering. Was he making her uncomfortable this way? He shifted his position at the edge of his bed. The room was still tidy, she was a person of cleanliness. Even better, what else could she do? Her questions ran through his head. Queen was trying to make conversation he might as well entertain her and help her break into their new living arrangements. She seemed antsy as well. He made sure his tone sounded was reassuring as possible as he spoke to her.
“It’s nice to meet you, Queen. I hope we get along as we’ll be staying together.”
Diego tilted his head inquisitively; he had a few questions of his own but for now he would answer anything she had to ask of him. His sleeping habits were fine, but he had just been exhausted by arriving here. Which was something off for him; he was not one to take naps especially in the middle of the day. Diego wondered how long he had slept, he should check the clock but right now his attention was focused on Queen. Her movements seemed calculated and right now they were anything but that especially within his proximity. “No, it’s fine. I’m not used to napping like that anyways. You’re fine, really. Although I am worried if I'm making you comfortable. I don't bite, no need to fret.”
It seemed as if she worried often as well... An ever growing list of her habits and intricacies filled his mind. What made her so special? Any girl could have walked past his gaze and he would have thought nothing of them as another piece of meat. But this one... This one was different. She was anything but the same as everyone else. From her beauty to her manners... Queen was a nimble subject. Studying her like a book became a more motivating task not as daunting as before. He reveled in her presence, a small smile attached itself to the corners of his mouth.
