Mild annoyance crossed her visage as she shifted away from him so he would stop giving her that sort of treatment. She was fond of her personal space, even when it came to Hope. The consequences were just lessened. All discontentment aside, she couldn’t help but crack a smile at his words and enthusiasm. She was proud, that much was obvious. Had she told him? She couldn’t recall.

"Why ask a question you already know the answer to?", she teased then glanced at him. "I’m proud of you, Hope. If it weren’t for you, we - I - wouldn’t be here. So, you have my thanks."

He couldn't help but laugh. It had been awhile since he had let loose - and it had to be with Lightning, out of all people. It was nice, and refreshing.

"I wouldn't take it that far." He felt his cheeks grow warm with embarrassment. "You're giving me too much credit there. Most, if not all of our victories started with you."

She immediately turned her eyes away once he approached her — if he meant to get his point across and embarrass her, it was a success.

"—and what of it?"

He grinned and playfully nudged her ribs with an elbow. Secretly, he loved being one of the very few people who was able to embarrass her - even though he was probably going to regret this later.

"You're proud of me, aren't you?" He chuckled and nudged her again. "You know you are! Admit it! I'm all grown up and you're proud of it."

Lightning quirked a brow as he feigned ignorance. So, he wanted to play that game? She could deal with that.

"I don’t know, Hope. I was thinking you could remind me since it didn’t take you much the first time."

He couldn't help but chuckle. He took a step forward and crossed his arms, leaning in a little bit.

"You have to admit that it's a lot different now that I'm taller. I'm older than you too, technically."

She chuckles softly and folds her arms over her chest. “It’s the only way I can get you to stop.”

*He shrugs and holds up his hands in mock confusion, but there's an obvious grin on his face*
