Nine times out of ten I'm going to assume it's a scam and immediately block and report, and even if I don't think it's a scam or you claim to be vetted, I'm still going to block and delete it. Oh how terrifying and overwhelming psychometry must have been to a young Cal Kestis.

Cal, who had a blanket he was wrapped in when he was brought to the Jedi temple. A blanket that still held some echoes of the family he once had. The Jedi forbid attachments and so the last connection that he had to his family was taken from him.

Cal, who didn’t understand why he could hear so many voices. From the archives to the training room, it must have felt like the entire building was screaming at him.

Cal, who was drafted into a war and saw the echoes of the dead and dying. Their last moments seared into his memory as the echoes suffocated him.

Cal, who would have struggled with the Jedi tenant of ‘no attachments’ because every object he touches begs for him to care about it. He would have known of his attachments and would have told himself that he would never be a Jedi Knight because he couldn’t follow the code.

Cal, who refined his psychometry in a war. His psychometry is just as much of a weapon as his lightsaber.

Cal, who landed on Bracca with a shattered connection to the Force and insurmountable grief. Who spent the next five years scrapping his past life. He must have felt the echoes of wrecked star ships and abandoned trooper armour.

Cal, who has only ever known his psychometry as a tool. A weapon. A means to an end. A broken tenet.

Oh Cal, how terrifying that must be.

I keep thinking about how this is the first time that Cal has been truly alone again since Bracca, and he’s gotten so used to not being alone anymore that he starts talking to BD-1 when he wakes up here. He assumes that BD is there with him because they’re always together now. BD is always there now, he’s always with Cal now, and if he’s not, then something is wrong.

And it’s like the way Cal doesn’t reach for his lightsaber until after he’s started (a little frantically) looking around for BD. He’s not being quiet or cautious. He’s not thinking about potential enemies nearby. Cal doesn’t notice his weapon is even missing until he realizes that BD is gone. That’s when he reaches for it, and that’s when the danger really sets in. But even after this, getting Cal’s lightsaber back is made second-priority for the player (even despite the lightsaber being the only thing Cal has left of Master Tapal). The game establishes that nothing matters more than finding BD-1.

And the relief when Cal does finally spot BD in a cell. “I found you! Are you okay?!” The big stupid grin that splits his face after he drops in and sees BD again, hears BD’s excited little boops. BD tries to run to Cal, but he can’t because of the restraining bolt on his leg. He keeps trying though, wiggling his body and tapping his little feets.

Cal rushes to BD and sets his hands on BD’s head before one hand slips down, kinda similar to how one of your hands would fall from a human’s face to their shoulder or arm instead, ykwim, and oh my goooodddd, dude. Cal loves that little droid so much. That’s Cal’s best friend. The best friend he’s ever had. I’m crying

Just noticed:

When Cal & company are landing on Zeffo, it’s in the middle of a storm. Greez is trying to get them as close as possible and such.

Cal sort of freaks out when they hit a bump and Greez tells him that he’ll be fine, a couple of bumps won’t kill him.

And then when they land (not gracefully, not softly), Cal freaks out again, grabs his seat and breathes through it for a few moments.

And well.

The last time he had a bumpy ride in space he was in an escape pod, with his Master’s corpse, falling into the unknown after the clones just tried to kill them.

So excuse him for having some PTSD and showing it. Something similar happens in Survivor where he actually has to get into an escape pod and he majorly freaks out.

No but really. Such a great detail that I’ve missed in every single play through until now. And I’ve played this game at least 5 times since I got it a couple of years ago.

Anyways. Gotta get to work now.
