Queer Hero - New Blog
Hello any and all that may be reading this.
This is Billy! Your fearless leader in making gifs of Avatar when I was 16 lol.
Anyway, I’m out of college and I’m starting a new blog for a book series I’ve been working on!
This new blog is an ~untitled project~ that has been rolling around in my brain for about 8 years. I want to write a hero story for a queer person and I’m inviting you to all follow my new blog to see if you like my writing!
I’m gonna be posting a lot of content on there as I build this story world!
https://queerherowriter.tumblr.com/
This story is the result of an overactive imagination that was very often bored and lonely in the days of his high school career. Charlie’s story is one that has evolved many times over and over again.
It was a pretty classic hero journey that was inspired heavily by Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. Years later, the story has become something explicitly and unapologetically queer.
While I’m not exactly near publication, I figured I could start posting work there for the general public to check out and follow my progress and the story’s progress.
I will post old (and probably very bad) writing. But most importantly I will post NEW writing. This blog is for me to kick this into gear. I need to start writing shit down with a forum of people to read and critique. I want to know what the people think!
Follow me and Charlie’s story to publication.

What's your dream cast for a LOK movie?
I really am not in to those posts that pick out celebrities that would be good to play certain book/cartoon characters. It’s just not something that I’ve ever paid attention to.
I also feel weird when trying to think of people to cast in film that would be predominantly Asian. This has absolutely 0 to do with how I feel about Asian people. It’s not a racism card. It’s just that I would like for it to be kept culturally accurate. And since I’m not big into cinema, nor am I big on actors from outside of the US, I wouldn’t have a clue on who to cast. I would however, like to keep it accurate by having a large percentage of the cast not completely white because that’s not how it’s really done in the show. Most of these feelings come from how M. Night Shamalamadingdong cast The Last Airbender.
This in no way is saying that you can’t accurately portray a certain culture because you are not born of that ethnicity. I just think that considering the show is so heavily styled that way, it would make sense to keep the people that way too. I would love for an Inuit woman to play Korra. But if there was a woman of another race that fulfilled the character role perfectly and the costume team honored the culture in the right way and kept everything accurate, I’d have no problem there either.
Had a wonderful time at NYCC with my wifey @abnaxus! Got my tattoo and a few others things signed by Janet Varney, and spotted Steve Blum! Life complete.
😳💦💦💦 ?
Age you get mistaken for: 25 usually.
What makes you horny: Money. (On a serious note, not much as of recent so I think the only thing that would do that would be a potential partner.)
Message: 📚
Career goal: I’m a biology and environmental science major and minor, and I hope to get my masters degree in zoology. With that I’d like to work on a wildlife reserve out of the country, and or end up teaching or public speaking about environmental concerns.
😏 and🍭
Turn on: On men happy trails, and on women sensitive nipples and big eyes.
Favorite candy: Kit kats :D
Message: I know that Amon is your favorite character, but who is your other favorite LOK villain? I loved Zaheer. He's my favorite villain primarily for the fact that he's completely dedicated to his mission. There's no ego involved. Even when he announces to the people of Ba Sing Se that the Earth Queen is dead, he begins by saying "my name is not important." I don't think that any other major villain in ATLA or LOK could do that.
My other favorite LoK villain? Hmm. I’d have to say probably Zaheer, for the same reasons stated above. He was an interesting villain. I wouldn’t even really call him one to be honest, until the very end of the season. But he redeems that slightly in the fourth season.
I kind of disliked Kuvira and I hated Unalaq. So out of the main villains, Zaheer would be my second favorite.
Message: I pretty much know the answer, but why has no one in the Avatar universe invented a gun yet? We know that they have an extensive knowledge of explosives in this universe. And, unlike the Equalist shock gloves, you don't need to be close to hurt someone. I guess that "because it's a kids' show" we can't have people using guns. Which is funny because shows like Batman: the Animated Series and Gargoyles used real guns extensively.
I’m not sure if this was supposed to be a confession or not, so if it was please let me know.
It’s true that guns in the real world have been around for years, and would have been present during Legend of Korra if it was trying to be completely historically accurate. And for the most part it’s pretty spot on with historical accuracy. I agree with your point that the main reason they were not present is because Viacom and Nickelodeon did not want to display any form of gun violence, which I agree and disagree with for different reasons that I won’t go into unless anyone is curious.
To your point about companies like Marvel and DC using guns and what not in modern comics and cartoons: Superheroes are not just kid friendly. They’re directed at a much wider audience range, and it’s hard to show fighting sequences based in the modern era without modern weaponry. ATLA and LoK take place in an entirely different world, and although they are trying to make direct connections to modern history, it’s still very different.
Another reason may just be because Mike and Bryan don’t believe in gun violence, and would not want fanworks depicting any sort of major modern day threat.
It also may be because guns aren’t really needed in this world. There are already so many threats between bending, and modern day weapons including nuclear power (spirit vines), that it isn’t really required for any portion of the plot. The rise of technology was a huge part of season one, because Amon’s vision was based on part of the fact that modern technology can create just as much power as bending and its accessible to everyone, therefor bending is obsolete. Kuvira’s spirt vine weapon is based off of the concept of nuclear power and nuclear weapons, which makes sense seeing as she represents fascism which came about during World War II, when the USA first revealed to the world that we had nuclear weapons of massive destruction. Kuvira wanted to use it to frighten nations into submission, as the USA did to Japan.
Will Bryke be at NYCC?
No I don’t think so.
Planning on buying anything Ruvik or Korrasami related. Woo.
Hope to see some of you there!
Message: I wonder whatever happened to Zach Tyler Eisen. I hear he's in college. Does anyone know?
I have no idea to be honest. I don’t really keep up with the lives of the voice actors. He also never made any appearances at cons and such so I don’t pay much attention to him.
!!! Fellow amorra fan fist bump

Who runs this blog? I hear it's an amorra fan. '-'
I do and I am an Amorra fan indeed.

MESSAGE: Well, thank you for telling us you will be on a hiatus. You will be missed (as always). Stay strong and I hope everything will get better soon for you! <3
Thanks, I appreciate it. I’m dealing with a lot of personal strife, including some harassment and abuse related things. So I really just have to take some time off and relax. It also doesn’t help that someone I knew got hit by a drunk driver while walking home yesterday and was killed.
Message: I bought one of my coworkers (who loves ATLA) The Legend of Korra Book 1 on Blu-ray. He loved it and will be getting the rest of the series. I've added another member to our fandom :)
That’s great! I’m happy to see that more people are starting to get into the series even now that it’s over.
