finally, ive scanned all the clippings i was planning on scanning for months now! i will crop and release them slowly over the next coming weeks ^_^ so be ready!

this was taken from a japanese magazine named 'Player' in October 1983, i have no other information about this, sadly, but i can provide a machine translation of the text in the image under, as well as a bonus scan of another band, Spear of Destiny, featured on the opposite side of the poster!

"Hailing from Bath, a city famous for its Georgian architecture and hot springs, Tears for Fears consists of Curt Smith (bass guitar and vocals) and Roland Orzabal (guitar and vocals). The group's name comes from a book written by American Arthur Janof, which deals with the theme of children's nightmares (?).

Both are 21 years old and already have wives and children(??). Other musicians from Bath include Peter Gabriel and there are the Naked Eyes guys. This year, Naked Eyes joins the UK tour halfway through. These two also participated as session members.

The core of Tears for Fears' synthesizer sound is not a Japanese-made Roland (?), but a German-made PPG Wave, which they claim is the best synthesizer in the world: Curt Smith's hairstyle, especially the long, thin braids hanging down the back, was quite fashionable at the time. He says he got hooked on it after his wife did it to him while he was sleeping, and in his American accent (his wife is American), he calls it "braits hair." Incidentally, in the British Bath accent, it's called "platz hair." By the way, their song "Pale Shelter" is one of my top 5 songs of the first half of '83."

of course, would appreciate any better translations from someone whos familiar with the language!! there were some mistakes i had to fix and some things that didnt make sense (them having children during the hurting era???? what???) as well as the spelling for the braided hairstyles. did they mean 'plaited hair'?
